Was has no one said Death cab for Cutie for Emo??

Emo used to be about overally emotional lyrics (but how a band cannot make emotional music is beyond me).

Emo is a scenster style thing now - not a music style.

It used to be:

Dashboard Confessional
Weezer
Jimmy Eat World
Death cab for Cutie

If you're going to start talking about what emo "used to be" at least know what the hell you are talking about. Emo never "used to be" Dashboard Confessional.

How many bloody times have we had this discussion now.
 
what is wrong with you people. I remember when emo just used to be about dying your hair black with your friends, listening to funeral for a friend in your parents garage and getting wasted on alcohol-free becks. all you haters have ruined it for us true emos - none of you understand how difficult it is to be creative when your parents are so supportive of everything you want to try.

Well me and you have never had this discussion, so never!

it's all bloody subjective anyway - emo is emotional and emotive, so what ever gets you as emotional and emotive is emo to you.

stop throwing around what emo is to you, as emo is different to everyone.

the point he's trying to make is that emo has been around for a lot longer than dashboard confessional. that's nothing to do with what emo is to you - emo "used to be" Rites of Spring and the like (can't really list as I'm not a huge fan of most of it :/)

Yes I know it's been around a lot longer than Dashboard et al, and that Rites of Spring were at the forefront of the whole Emo movement (along with others), was just making a point that it can be different to different people.

I'd say that in this case it isn't a case of relative stances. The colour red might look green to some colour blind person, doesn't change the fact it's red in actual fact.
 
I was wondering that too. I did see A Static Lullaby mentioned tho. That got a lol from me. Horrible band.

Yes indeedie. Just don't transmit indy music into fashion for the love of God. That goes for others who 'wear' what they listen to.

I'd look like such a clown if I tried to 'wear my favourite music' lol :p
