Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

^

I know that, but arcade to me is GRID type handling (which is acceptable and enjoyable) - not smash into the walls every road is lined with to keep you guided along the course (Hot Pursuit)

Mine should turn up in the next 1-2 hours after Royal Mail have been told to hold it since last Sunday

Got it & installing now. Uses some new install GUI I have not seen before you have to activate online before it will even let you install & the DVD drive makes a strange noise, its using dual layer media as well 7.84GB.

After install the DVD is not required in the drive either.

You need an EA Autolog account for any online racing & other features like the Dreamshot & Snapshot internal HD screenshot taker.

Not been playing for long but it feels very smooth to play. No AA @ 1920x1200 is noticeable but the graphics look really good on the road & backgrounds its the best looking PC arcade racing game ever made by far.

Very arcade like & almost a carbon copy of NFSHP2/Outrun 2006. Easy to pickup & play & the loading times are super quick plus FPS is a constant 60 but no surprise as so little physics or gameplay going on its literally a hold the gamepad & drive with the odd burst of nitrous or drift braking. This is a game for anyone who likes fast moving arcade racer experiences with superb looking backgrounds  & high res textures on them for once!!

set AA in the nvidia control panel to 4x then set AA transparency to Multisample

and AA should work ingame but it doesnt seem to effect the cars because they still have jaggies...

how quick you've changed your tune !!! the first post was all assumptions made from 'other' peoples experiences then your next post after actually playing it paints such a different picture ;)

All taken ingame via the Criterion viewer then Fraps on my EA Autolog where it lets you view these & downgraded to jpegs looks slightly better ingame as no compression artifacts. Some of the best PC arcade racer backgrounds I have ever seen if not the best shame about the lack of AA though going to try to force that now somehow.

AA is not working for me at all tried all settings think I will just wait until Nvidia do something about this its not very noticeable at high speed!

I have read that the engine sounds on the pc version are very quiet and not as good as the console versions is that true?
Yep engine sounds are low & poor & the speech ingame is average but the whole think is very arcade like so its to be expected.

Not surprised it runs well for you as you have a stellar system, I'll be interested to hear how it runs on lower machines like mine.

Is it true the game has a 5 activation limit DRM like some other EA games do? (Burnout Paradise, NFS Undercover etc.)

The graphics look fine but they don't look that amazing from what I've seen so far. It doesn't seem to have any impressive lighting or HDR effects compared to some other games, Test Drive Unlimited springs to mind. And bear in mind TDU came out in 2006.

still waiting for "12:01 GMT" to arrive so I can download from d2d

12:01 looked so precise I was sure it was going to be up dead on time

Not sure what DRM it uses I presume Securom but it does not tell you when it activates.

Think this will run fine on any PC from the last 3-4 years it so undemanding & the menu & video presentation are also very good. Even the ingame HD movies are very crisp & look for once PC worthy not the usual compressed to hell 720P console junk.

DICE worked on this as well so presume they did the MP aspects.

How can you know how undemanding it is, when you are running an i7 980X and a GTX 480? I mean the FPS is capped at 60 IIRC so without the cap you don't know if you'd be getting 61 or 161.

Yep as you said they look fine but no HDR or lighting although when you go through tunnels you get some nice coloured lights its ok but not exceptional the backgrounds really are quite nice though compared to many other recent PC racers with low res backgrounds they look to have done it quite well here.
