Need For Speed series come to an end?

So to finish off the NFS series they need to work for the next couple of years on making NFS Most Wanted Underground :D

shames, but its their own faults for making them crapper and crapper, hopefully another company will get it and make a mw2 or underground3.

I like NFS :(

+1

I am surprised they might be dropping the franchise. Surely the value of the name is too high for them to do that. I think if they make another *good* NFS game then it will sell well. If they make garbage like Undercover, and limit lifetime PC installations to five, what do they expect but poor reviews and sales.

Ill be very surprised if they just dont have a hiatus and come back in a couple of years with another NFS game - probably want to break the cycle of 'Is this years NFS as good as last years?' and I suspect quite a few people for curiositys sake would buy it solely to see what theyve done after the break.

Pretty much what happened to TR...

ps3ud0

yeah with burnout coming to the pc...nfs would have had an even harder time.
nfs doesnt even really have any competition and its still failed....ea need to sack all those who didnt work on most wanted

Does anyone know if it's possible to get Porsche Unleashed working in XP on an nvidia card, without the ugly blocky textures?

I played through it again a few years back on XP, I don't remember the textures being especially poor (at least not the car textures). However I did have a problem whereby I couldn't select my chosen resolution, because the game only gives you a choice of something like 22 graphics modes, and because it lists the 16bit modes first, there wasn't enough room to fit in the high-res 32bit modes. Even so I still perservered and played in 800x600 or something silly, as IMO it's the best driving game ever.

Regarding the decision to can the NFS series (if that has indeed happened), I can't help but wonder if this is linked to the fact that the EA Blackbox studio is being scaled down and relocated (should be back up and running mid-2009). A few weeks ago EA announced a patch for Undercover was in the works, but I'm very sceptical about whether that will actually see the light of day now.
