Need for Speed Shift - Time Trial Championship Season 2 NOW COMPLETE

Visit http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18114208 for Season 3

Thanks to peterattheboro for hosting Season 1 (10 Weeks) OcUK NFS Shift Championship Season 1

Welcome to Season 2

OcUK NFS Shift Championship Season 2 Website (Thanks to asim18 & Wedge)

Save Game File for those that need it, courtesy of Wedge.
Instructions: Download, unzip, rename the folder & the file (the Folder & File must have the same 'Name' BTW), copy it to "C:\Users\yourname\Documents\NFS SHIFT" folder

Rules:

  • To avoid any cheating, the car can be tuned and upgraded to whatever you want. (Unless a 'Stock', 'Reward' or 'Loaner' car is chosen)
  • Proof of the lap time will be provided in this thread by either screen shot (e.g. Fraps on PC) or camera shot for console users. This means that this tournament is open to all versions of the game on either PC or console.
  • Screen shots must be taken at the end of the session. Lap times will not be included from mid race as these times show illegal lap times where corner cuts may have been taken.
  • Lap must be set in Time Attack mode.
  • The highest ranking driver on the Weekly Event Leaderboard WITHOUT a nomination gets to choose the next Weekly Event Car/Track Combo. If for whatever reason the highest applicable driver cannot make a nomination in time, then the second highest ranking drivers' nomination will take effect & so on. Nominations will be made by e-mail to myself no later than 5pm Saturday. This is because people are eager to start playing and any delays are just plain irritating.
  • There is/are NFS Shift real mod(s) available for PC. THIS/THESE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. Console users will be disadvantaged by there use, so DON'T USE THEM PLEASE.
  • Remember we're here to have fun with a challenge thrown in for good measure

In addition to the Weekly Events there's a Bonus Event running alongside. This particular event is immune to deadline so will continue to run as long as this thread stays alive. Yeah, you guessed it THE NORDSCHLEIFE.
  • You can use any car you like for the Bonus Event be it from Tier 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  • You're welcome to participate in both the Weekly & Bonus Events or just pick & choose the Event(s) that suits you.
  • The Leaderboards for the Weekly Events will remain separate to the Bonus Event

Hi All, i now have website updated for Season 2, I have PM'ed asim, so hoping this is going to be ok.

New database is here :D http://mywedge.co.uk/ocukshift/index.html (please add to opening post Nikaz)

I will rely on you Nikaz to post final positions and times each week, i will then update the database, hope thats ok?

No problem. I will update as I've been doing in the original thread.

Thanks for the help Wedge

Learning where the grip is on this track. So easy too overcook it.
I've softened the suspension & it still feels a hard ride.

Finally managed to pull myself away from dirt for a few quick laps
<snip>

Have you decided on what we are going to do for next track selection NIKAZ?
Yeah, this is the current rule. See how it goes. Should see everybody get a chance at choosing

"The highest ranking driver on the Leaderboard WITHOUT a nomination gets to choose the next Weekly Event Car/Track Combo. If for whatever reason the highest applicable driver cannot make a nomination in time, then the second highest ranking drivers' nomination will take effect & so on. Nominations will be made by e-mail to myself no later than 5pm Saturday."

how the hell u doing such good laps

Welcome psychas.
Lots of practice. The current posters in this thread have been competing in Season 1 (see link in first post) for 10 weeks, so we've had lots of practice competing against one another.
Have a go, if you need some tuning help etc just ask, we're happy to help

<snip>

Got a better lap time by using 4th gear for the first corner after long straight.
Still can't quite master the right hander with the bump,i'm using 3rd at the moment so i don't spin wheels coming out of corner.

I'm using 3rd for T1 but our gearing may differ.
I'm trying different lines through that bump corner.
At the moment I'm taking a wider entry staying in 3rd gear, ride the bump then following the predicted line on the exit accelerating up to 4th staying in 4th for the left curve.

About that turn with the bump...
I found it is much better to stay right in the middle of the road as you break..
and then dive to the most right you can,, and let the 2 right wheels ride the gravel..
you escape the bump altogether.. and you don't loose any momentum.

what about the very closed off-camber.. 2nd or 3rd?
I stay in 3rd. I hold a little throttle over the crest, let the car ease out to the curb then gradually apply full throttle. Up to 5th, changing down to 4th for the next right. On this right, turn in early. The camber makes the car drift out to the left anyway.

I only have the stock car available and can only manage a poor 2:06:810 lol
Welcome madman045.
Yeah that's a little issue with this comp. A lot of the cars aren't available early in the game. Keep plugging away with Career mode, you'll soon have all the cars available.

For week 2 I'll recommend we nominate a lower tier car so more people can get involved

Good too see you're having a go.

besides maintaining 2nd along the U-turn.. I do it exactly the same...
accel.. up to 5th,, brakes and 4th for the right and the uphill left,

then 3rd for next two righthanders, and 4th for the last left-right long uphill.

Yep,same as me

Do you redline 6th on the main straight?

No, I don't quite redline 6th. Probably in 6th for a about 5 secs on main straight. I'll post tuning setup for comparison.

drives like a dog this thing - just can't get it to turn in at all!!

Will have a go with some of the settings above - cheers Nikaz!

It is a hard car to get to turn in that's for sure. T-1 for example I've experimented with 3rd & 4th gears, always fail using 4th unless I go slow in. So it's 3rd for me
My approach regarding turn in with this car;
Brake reasonably early, generally just in the red zone.
Off the brakes turn in & use throttle to bring the back end round. (Power oversteer)
Treat it as if you're driving an American Muscle Car

I'm uploading a vid to utube. Hopefully you'll be able too hear where I'm using the throttle.
