So, who's getting the latest in the money making maching that is NFS?

I really enjoyed the last one (Pro Street) although it did infuriate me at times so going to ask for this for my birthday in a couple of weeks.

It's out this Friday.

Whats IGNs main gripe with the game?

Need for Speed Undercover is a poor game with a ton of problems, both technically and in terms of design. The open world design is completely lost as you can't actually drive to any event, many races are closed off which means no cross traffic, and it's incredibly easy. The presentation could have been good but winds up feeling totally contrived and confusing at times. The game could, and should, have been leaps and bounds better than it is. As it stands, though, there's absolutely no reason to pick this up over the likes of Burnout Paradise or Midnight Club: Los Angeles, both of which demolish it in every way possible.

Edge gave it a 3/10, here's a quote of how they ended their review.

Who'd have thought Need For Speed would do as convincing a job of desolate wasteland as Fallout 3

They also mentioned that both the 360 and PS3 versions can hit the floor in terms of fps. From those two reviews it's not looking promising at all.

Thanks for the summarys sunlitsix and bazmehaim. Hmm was really fancying a decent NFS game after I didn't really like Midnight Club: LA. Might rent it to see how it goes.

After watching the dev diary which showed some of the 'features' as being able to do doughnuts, and the ability to look at the WHOLE CAR in game (!!!), I was slightly dubious :p

Definitely going to grab it, didn't enjoy Pro Street but this is meant to have more elements of Most Wanted & Carbon, which I loved!

Mygamercard.com shows that McManiacMan seems to have been enjoying it already!

I've been waiting to hear more about this game.

I really liked Most Wanted, I also really liked Carbon, even though I know this was a bit more of a Marmite game, or worse, as most people seemed to dislike it (I actually bought it on the PC, and then again at the same time as ordering my PS3 back in April '07)

I HATED ProStreet.

I tried the demo on the PS3 and thought it looked, and handled, absolute crap.

I tried the demo on the PC, and it looked quite good, but handled absolute crap ;)

So, I was hoping Underground would be good again, and I've been waiting, and waiting... wondering whether to get Midnight Club.... then yesterday, I noticed that Midnight Club was just £23 new delivered... so have now gone for that instead.

I'll give it a month or two, and see what people think of Underground, and pick it up when the price drops/MM, if it's worth it at all.

If the handling resembles Pro Street in any way, I'll avoid it altogether.

Even though Carbons graphics looked a bit.. cack, I found the handling to be near spot on, and really enjoyable to race.

I've got so many racing games already though, I buy nearly all of them, I don't need another one right now, especially with Midnight Club in the post... I've not even finished Grid yet (which I also really like)

Vin.

After the gametrailers review I'm definitely going to rent it. I can handle the easyness and the frame-rate probably wont bother me (as long as it doesnt crawl) Just need to get my dvd drive fixed on my 360 now :(

I find IGN reviews pretty good and reliable tbh. I never saw the 5.0 coming though. How the hell could they go wrong with the game though - all they had to do was tweak Most Wanted and they'd be onto a good seller.

EA being on their usual pushy/rushing form I expect.

Midnight Club: LA is a MUCH better game tbh.

will be getting it, pro street was ok, most wanted's been my favorite of them all followed by nfsu2, they may be crap but i still have to buy them :p
