Need For Speed: Undercover

Been waiting for this game for ages now, loved MW so if its like that its a winner in my books, dont usually trust game review sites anyway as the reviewers are usually against a certain style of game from the get go, rather rent it and make my own judgement, UG2 was the way forward if only that game had cops it would still be up there today........

Not too keen on the reviews, but in the end, I had a blast in police chases in Most Wanted & Carbon, and I think I will here too, whats the worst that can happen? Don't like it and sell it on/trade it in!

Reviews seem crap, not good EA, not good.

I'll rent it I think, then see how I feel.

Although mates are getting it on PS3/360, so will have a gander.

Shocked and very worried about the reviews this game has been getting.

I was a HUGE fan of Most Wanted - thoroughly enjoyed it and every Need for Speed game before it. Thought Carbon was average and Pro Street was pap. Had huge hopes for Undercover bringing back the Most Wanted magic.

:(

After the last fiasco's with NFS i would say that getting Midnight club would be a better option, gets a better score atleast and people seem to be happy with it.

Hmm i like the freedom and sheer amount of creativity with the cars design features, but after play NFS Underground 1 on Original Xbox, NFS Underground 2 (360) and carbon (360) i have found that the games seem to get extremely repetative. And the gameplay in terms of real attention to detail doesnt seem to improve, NFS is one of them *Rushed* games that is hurried in the design labs just to meet the annual deadline. The annoying thing is the ideas they have in the game are great, but the overall gameplay is so dissapointing. In my opinion they need to stop the rush for a release date and concentrate on making a NFS that will have all racing fans hooked. Until then i doubt il pick picking up a copy of any future Need for Speed titles.

If anyone thinks these comments unfair let me know i would like to see what other people think.

Thanks, Melon :)

completely agree however I think that would require a completely different publisher :(

Yeah exactly! but the real problem then would be which publisher is capable of making a good racing game, if it came to that personally i wouldnt mind seeing the creators of Forza giving it a go making an "arcade racer" rather than a simluation. But then i wouldnt want them to take their minds off Forza 3 hehe ;)

Carbon and Pro Street were great!

problem is with the N4S series is that EA make the game for every console format current and past gen. They should just concentrate on current HD gen like Burnout Paradise did.

Hmmm decided to buy this game as it looked very similar to NFS Most Wanted...in a lot of ways its very much like it but i have to admit that after playing yesterday and today...im finding it pretty rubbish...the concept is good but frame rate is absolutely atrocious tbqh. Most of the time im getting headaches from playing this...the frame rates drop so much that its painful ie i go to do a drift and next i end up in the wall as the frame rate just glitches like hell:(

I really dont understand why EA made such a terrible game....all they had to do was tweak Most Wanted a bit and away you go but arghhh the gfx are nice...just a shame that EA couldnt be bothered to properly get this right.

Looks like ill be trading this in tommorrow...

Damn, was hoping this would be great. If only it was like NFSU1,2 and Most Wanted and we would be onto a winner! :(

Completely agree about the framerate, it's absolutely shocking if you ask me. I think I'd go as far as to say it's got the worst framerate overall of any 360 game I've ever played.

Game itself seems pretty bland to be honest. There just isn't that much to say about it.

i finished it, framerate although bad in places didn't distract me from the game to much, and only found it slightly worse framerate than Most Wanted. Still found the game better overall than Midnight Club LA and its magically appearing cars. As i said earlier EA need to concentrate on 1 Platform but seeing the N4S series is such a cash cow they never will

Framerate was fine, however Prostreet was smoother. I would give it a 5/10 too.

The place you drive around although I haven't unlocked the other parts yet isn't that good ... the big highway is great though. The police are annoying as ****, what determines them coming after you? I do absolutely nothing and they attack.

Night time mode would be cool, with lights. Maybe rain/snow now and again, probably asking too much there.

I use manual and when I brake before I am even at 0mph, the car reverses (left trigger)? I don't think it did in ProStreet, unless you went into it first ... very annoying. What the hell happened to the clutch, it's in ProStreet?

What is with the traffic lights, I mean they don't light up, it's like paper or something, it's not easy to tell red-light-on from green-light-on, perhaps pile up in traffic lights would be cool. More like GTA IV did.

The missions don't seem anything special ... although I have not finshed the game, for now it hasn't been too good.

If you liked Most Wanted and Prostreet, then you might like this, if you loved them then you'll like this.
