Need gaming rig for non tech

i just never really understood the benefits of the steam controller.
Nor have I - but some people swear by them.

But then I only use a controller for driving games - otherwise i'm keyboard and mouse all the way. That's why my xbox is a glorified driving simulator... oh, and bomber man with the kids :)

Thanks for the ideas guys. Are these prices for built systems that I can use straight away?
Unfortunately not. They're individual components i compiled which you would need to assemble yourself.

You would have to add on another £50-£100 for someone to build - unless you have a tech savvy friend.

you are better off buying used and heres some examples of why and what you could get.. i live in devon so these are within 100 mile radius, so they just for ideas.

theres more at lower priced and in between 300-400, but im not going to make a list that big for examples lol, you will find a lot of the 6 core AMD based builds and certain APU systems more than intel for the price unless you in a good area. neither of these will be better than the build suggested above, but for your budget they would do the job just fine. well as i look at again, maybe they will better in some cases, i know the haswell i5 be better than the pentium G
