i have a budget of £450 to upgrade but my idea was to use my mother board and cpu and build with them.

these are my specs for board and cpu

Manufacturer : ACER

Version :R01-A3
Serial Number : 00000000
Support MP :Yes, 4 CPU(s)
Version MPS : 1.4

kentsfield Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 2394 MHz socket 775 LGA

and these are what i want to add

What psu does your old pc have?

I assume the motherboard is not a "unique" one.

Can you post some photos up.

I think you can just go ahead and fit the stuff, do a nice fresh install with newest motherboard chipset drivers/ati drivers and sound card drivers.

I normally say dont bother with a sound card, but sod it, buy it:) just remember to turn off the motherboard onboard audio in the BIOS.

One bit of advice, I doubt you have a motherboard manual for your board showing where the front panel connectors go from the case, so take notes where the current PWR switch/HDD LED/RESET switch go, and use this with the new case cabling.

ok thanks for the advice but i hope to get an expert to do the changing over?

another question my QUAD CORE Q6600 do you feel this will be up to standard for the time being with the money i am spending on the new upgrades?

I think I would be tempted to buy a slightly bigger SSD. 40Gb doesn't leave a lot of room for manouvering, after installing Windows 7 and a game(if you are going to be gaming that is) you wouldnt be left with very much space at all.

Hi if it was me i would scrap the SSD and save yourself 20qid and get a samsung f3 1tb then use the cash to get a 5850,, i have a SSD in my gameing pc but really it dont make any difference for games and you run out of space v fast. as for the Q6600 it will be fine still a nice cpu for games etc, if your mobo has bios options allowing you i would oc it to 3,2ghz should do this easy..

40GB is a bit tight for a OS drive. You can get a Vertex 60GB for around the same price.

The RAM is expensive, but I suppose you don't have much choice in that department. Maybe worth shopping around just for that component.

The case is expensive. You can save around £15-£20, and also do you need a sound card? Savings can get you a much better graphics card.

It depends what you ultimately want in your build.

With a 5830, you can fit the OCZ Vertex 2E in your basket (takes the price to £449 inc postage) and is a lot better than the Intel 320.

thanks for the help all,i will have to look at this and see how to rearrange it all.

one thing i did notice whilst looking at a review of the case is that the mother board sits high at the top and it said to be careful of the cpu fan size wise because of the top fan on case anybody know if the fan i choose will be a problem or is there a better solution (decent cooler not so space consuming)??
