I've just got and installed a fourth hard drive, but its not showing in My Computer. It shows in device manager and says its working correctly.

Any ideas?

I was gonna format it when windows picks it up. If i format via dos, should windows see it then?

control panel > administrative tools > computer management > disk management
create a partition then format

Didnt work, the new HD wasnt there. Ive swaped the cableing about now. The new HD is now the scondary master with the DVD drice as secondary slave. It was the other way around.

I have the two other HD's as Primary master and slave.

Previous the cable swaping:
Tried to find the drive in dos but i dont know what drive letter has been assigned to the new drive?

It won't be assigned a drive letter anywhere until it's partitioned and formatted which is what Disk Management is for. If the new drive is not showing in there then you need to find out why before you go any further.

Can you give me a better idea of the setup you have - what kind of disks do you have (IDE/SATA?), how they're connected, what they're conencted to etc.

sorted it now. Installed parition magic and it found the drive then partitioned it and formatted it now. All sorted! Drive H:

Thanks for help anyway :)

If Partition Magic found the drive, then Windows Disk Manager would have found it too!

You probably didnt see it, but it would have shown up.
