Need help on CPU

Everything I've seen (which the post by @Tetras seems to confirm) suggests that high single threaded performance is the most important thing for that particular game.

This was the best I could find, I'm definitely struggling with Valorant. Rainbow Six Siege is easier, because it's included in HUB and GN's benchmarking. TPU have CS:GO in their review, which might be applicable.

There's an increase in average FPS (219 from 195) and the minimum goes up quite a lot, but the GPU used is only a 750 Ti, so I assume there's a GPU bottleneck.

The 10100F is currently very cheap (£50) and looks like it is still a big chunk faster than the 3770K in Valorant (average FPS: 450 v 320, with a GTX 1650 *), so I'd be more inclined to go that route for a "low-cost" option (with a H410/H460/H510/B560 board) than the 3770K.

** The average was around 290 for the 3570 with a 1650, here, but I don't know if the settings were the same.

At the moment I might stick to the i5-12400F, as well as the mobo and ram suggested by @Tetras previously. Is this a decent pick, and is there anyone who has used these that can tell me roughly what fps you got in different games?
CPU - i5 12400F
Mobo - Gigabyte B660 DS3H AX
Ram - 16GB DDR4
Would anyone else suggest something else or should I use this?

Can you play a game that large websites/YouTubers like benchmarking please? :p :D

If I do a search on YouTube, you should find performance of a 12400F with 1070 is very similar to this and this (5600X with 1070), but note the settings they use at the start of the videos.

For a 12400, 1070 and other games, try this playlist:

Thanks, I think I will get these then. I will be playing games like Siege or Apex for example when I get this.
Thanks for the help.
If I have anymore questions I'll post them on here

AMD 5600 build has 32gb of memory for the same money as the 12400f build with 16gb of memory .

Something to be considered.

Are you suggesting I get the AMD build instead?
I have already bought and received 16GB DDR4 3200mhz RAM if that's what you are referring to.
If it's something to do with the CPU please explain if this will give me more FPS, whatever game.
What Mobo should I get if I choose to get the 5600, and is it worth paying slightly more for a tiny improvement in the 5600X?

There are 2 builds suggested intel post 4 and AMD post 14 and you wanted to up the CPU to a 12400f did you cost both builds them up ? because the AMD build work out better value against the 12400f hence may comment in post 27.

No its not worth paying extra for the 5600x and mobo choice is in post 14 unless you wish to change it.

The 5600 and the 12400f perform virtually the same in games.

So I already have 16GB ram DDR4 3200mhz, not 32GB.
Should I get the more expensive intel combo or cheaper Ryzen combo.
I could also used the extra money if i buy the Ryzen for a new PC case for example. I have a really old one that has horrible ventilation.

For me I would get the AMD 5600 and the money saved can be spent on a case.

Yeah same, but I found the 5600X for £13 more, is it worth the extra money and can it be OC?
Or is it just better to OC 5600?
What's also the best budget case for the B550M? I don't want to be spending too much money on it.

Corsair TX550M, turns out I only have 550 watts. Is this enough? And is this enough for the future, I might want to upgrade my GPU in the future. It was ordered in November 2020.

Yes It's fine for now and your new upgrade

No point upgrading the psu until you get a more powerful GPU.

What is the best GPU I can get without having to upgrade it?

550 is an awkward number and this is not an exact science anyway (since it can easily go either way), but if it was me, I'd avoid anything that regularly goes above 200 watts, preferably lower (in the 150 range, like your 1070).

Cards that are around 200:
- RX 6800, RTX 4070

* AMD and nvidia both recommend 650 (minimum) for the above.

My CPU and motherboard should arrive today but I have some questions.
Will all of the cables I need for the motherboard come with it? For example the USB 3 cable or audio cable, do those come with the motherboard or could I just be able to re-use the ones I already have in my current older mobo, or will I need to buy some new ones?
Also, I'm planning on buying a new case soon, I have the msi b550m pro-vdh wifi mobo which is M-ATX, I would like to get a case that will fit this, but will also fit a larger GPU which I am also planning on upgrading soon. Any cases that aren't too expensive with prebuilt fans? RGB or not, just a budget one.
