Need help- Sis's PC keeps rebooting

Dont I need to get into windows to flash the bios?

Also can I stress this happend out of nowhere.

Reset the CPU? Will that do anything? (Not trying to say your wrong). But I cant see how that will help. Hmmm

what voltage did you use when you over clocked the old p4?

on the older p4's if you put too much juice through the cpu the cpu eventually started to run slower than it should. In effect the cpu was dieing, Is it possible this could be the cause of what seems to be its demise??

From reading what you have done, it should clear the cmos.

As for flashing the bios this should be done from a boot floppy on such an old machine, I doubt there was a win flash bios available for that machine.

Could be worth checking to see if you can get a newer bios download it and boot up from it using the pulled plug from psu method you have been using to get it to boot so far

well that shouldnt have caused it then, unless it has died a natural death lol.

electro migration or something i think it was called. early p4's suffered it if too much juice was used on an o/c

when you alter bios settings & then reset CMOS & then manage to get back into the bios, do the settings you made previously appear ? in other words is it saving the alterations you make ? someone mentioned the battery may be caput ,they don't last forever & I've never had to replace one yet but........
