He just said he has no video. Don't confuse the poor bloke.

Benjarghmin i am not confusing him i am actually making it easier for him thanks.

You havent even asked him when he turns the pc on, what comes up on the screen?

We don't know if he has no picture oin the screen when he turns the machine on or when he puts the Vista CD in nothing comes up?

All additional power cable are connected and the fan on the graphics is spinning?

Stickroad, When i turn on the PC all the fans start spinning all LED's come on but nothing on the screen

I will clear the CMOS now and report back

i have booted with Vista cd in and still no picture, I have checked and the graphics card is seated correctly.

He's just categorically stated he has no picture. Take in what he's saying before you come waving your magic stick of fixing.

Yes but what he said, i have booted with Vista and nothing comes up on the screen is not very clear (or not to me anyway). If he said when i turn the pc on their is no picture that would have been a little clearer.

Make sure you have connected the 12v 4pin that comes out of the PSU to the motherboard?

I have checked and it is correctly fitted. The CPU fan is spinngin so the motherbaord must be getting power.

With the cable that connects the graphics to the PSU, I connected the spare connector to a fan and the fan does not work? Would it be a faulty connection? If so why does the fan on the graphics card spin?

I have also cleared the CMOS on the board but still no picture?

You mean you got one of those pre-bundled cables? With two regular power cable connectors coming off one for the graphics card?

yep

edit: actually no. ther was a 6pin connector i think for the grahics card and 2 regular ones coming off that. I connected one of these regular ones to the a cable out of the PSU and the other one was spare.

The spare one was the one I connected to the fan.

Yeah that 6-pin power connector for the graphics card is a PCI-e power cable. You may have a duff one, meaning the card isn't getting enough power.

Sounds like the boards got the same probs as the old DS3's with the Ram, have you tried the Ram (memory) in different slots, 1x stick at a time (if you have 2x)

Hrm, if it's RAM messing up then he should be getting some beepy beeps.

Does your computer beep at you at all when you're booting up?

negative on the beepy beep side.

BUT.

YYYYYYIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

We have picture on screen. It was a duff cable. I changed the cable to the PSU's PCI-E connector and we are up and running.

Also found out that when the PCI-E isnt plugged into the Graphics card the fan still spins. Must get some power through the slot.

Newayz I thank all of you who have helped and especially Benjarghmin. You sir have saved me from throwing this £700 rig up the wall in frustration.
