Need help with a NAS

I am in desperate need of a new storage solution. I have 6 HD in my computer and i want to get rid of some and move some stuff to a NAS so i can access it better on my network.

I was looking at the linksys nas 200 which is a 2 bay NAS that can take any drive. I liked the idea of this as i could put a 1tb drive in and then add another later on.

The problem is that OCUK do not sell this and no one else seems to either. I think the brand is being dispanded.

Anyway i cannot seem to find another way of getting the same setup for a similar price. I see there is a D-link 2 bay NAS but it is very expensive for what i want it to do.

I am missing an option here. I want to have a 1TB drive as a NAS somehow with the ability to add storage in the future. Ideally i don;t want lots of plugs all over the place.

Thanks

The IcyBox NAS seems popular on here, have a look at that. It has all the NAS functions you are likely to want out of a 2-drive system and it about £100 which is pretty cheap for such a solution.

easy - synology ds207 range
or the new netgear (infrant based) 2 bay readynas which uses x-raid (expandable raid)

i've recentely just bought WD My World Book 500TB. they go up to 2T if you want/need that much! it may be a standalone NAS however it does have a USB slot which you can expand into in the future.. say for example a 2Tb USB drive is so much cheaper than NAS at the moment,.. so you could infact get more for your money.

also you could use a usb splitter.. opening up even more external USB HD to be plugged into the NAS.
