Thanks.

Thanks.![]()
No, i'm still at it, lol. I've just had so many interruptions!
First my mate came up, drunk and crying about his girlfriend, then my mum called, then my partner called and asked me to come get her from her friends house as it was late, then my brother came in... now my cat has decided he wants to stand on the motherboard and is trying his best to get past me!
My stress levels are through the roof! I was supposed to enjoy building my own rig!
I'm getting back to it now. I have another question. The cpu cooler doesn't seem to have a lot of clearance between the back plate and the mobo. Some of the pins at the back of the mobo are very close to the coolers backplate. Is that normal?
Have you plugged both the SATA and power cables into the drive? (One L shaped connection and one flat wider one)
Do you have another PC you can try it in?
If not try another port or data cable.
Edit: is this the "B" grade drive?
I just tried checking the connections then taking out the black 6GB/s cable and swapping it for the normal blue one and inserted it into the 3GB/s port and its still the same.
The white HDD light on the front of the case flashes as if the drive is doing something but it's still asking for a driver to access the HDD...
EDIT: No, the 1TB Toshiba drive.
Hicks: I was hoping i was just being stupid and missing something. I don't see any alternative to returning it.
I was worried when i first opened the box and saw that some of the boxes, like for the GPU, were a bit bashed. I actually posted about it, but i wrote it off at the time
Yeah, i'm fine with it.
you could always get the intel core i3
There are more things you can try, as it might not be the drive and rather the board that needs updating etc.
The fact that you have a damaged drive thought would probably push me to getting it replaced anyway just to be on the safe side. (Up to you)
I have to go to work shortly but I'm sure someone else will be along.
I would try going back into the bios and loading the defaults and saving. I think it's F7 in that bios. Also check that AHCI mode is enabled. If that doesn't work then try and clear the cmos by taking the board battery out for a few minutes.
After that then someone with experience with this board will tell you if you might need to update it. I know those GB boards have needed updating in the past for chips, not sure about hdds though :/
Sorry for not being more helpful but I'm trying to book ferry tickets and get ready for work at the same time![]()
