rather than get a 1tb nvme and 2tb rust bucket for storing games, how about just a 2tb nvme. check samsung website for participating retailers, and promotion ends today..but after checking 2 sites, seen the 2tb sammy 980 pro for £264, and you get £80 cashback with promotion so down to £184...2tb of one of fastes drives you can get..s/b plenty of storage for games(I've got 2tb sn850 in my build)
just commentating on your parts 1st
the z690 edge wifi is a great board
for price you're paying, would go for 32gb 2x16 veangence pro.. seen the newer stuff rgb rt 3600c16 for £132..intel not so particular on speed so could go for 32gb veangeance rgb rt 3200c16 for £112
gpu..if you can get the 12gb model, all the better..the 12gb is more a 3080ti with slightly less shaders than a 3080 with 2gb more vram...
PC Gamer..
Unless you’re a GPU enthusiast, it might not be apparent that 3080 12GB cards use a superior GPU with more shaders and a wider memory bus. The 3080 10GB contains 8704 cores, while the 12GB has 8960. But by far the bigger difference is the memory bus, at 320-bit for the 10GB and 384-bit for the 12GB. This means effective bandwidth is 760GB/s and 912GB/s respectively. So, if you buy a 3080 12GB, you get more shaders and an extra 2GB of memory with more bandwidth. It’s a no brainer if both carry the same price.
excellent psu...ocuk got preorder on the rm1000x (use it with my 3080 at mo, and seeing as has 10yrs warranty, maybe worth a shout) at a decent price
My basket at OcUK:
Total: £149.99 (includes delivery: £0.00)
nzxt h7 can take a 360mm aio in the roof..if you're after looks, may suit the case better than a 240mm, but the cooler is expensive
if you want an lcd display, you could go h150i elite capellix..seen for £220..lcd is a higher quality display than nzxt's
then as
@dfour was saying, he put in a 13700kf, but a 13600k will outperform the 12700k for gaming.. you could still keep the mobo if you want, but new faster ddr5 ram available now is leading to some games being faster. both hardware unboxed and gamernexus now test systems with ddr5 ram..as games get optimised in future to use ddrs ram, seeing that only going one way myself
Personally, I'd go AM5 if just gaming, as at least you can upgrade the cpu in a few years. you wont be able to do that with intel, as socket 1700 should end this year, as intel generally support sockets for 2 years, and launched last year with alderlake.
however, sticking to intel, think about getting at least the 13600k then
go to 13min 20, and you can see the uplift of fps between ddr4 and ddr5 atm on 12 game av
I'd also just wait to see what amd are doing with their new gpu's...you may just be buying a 3080 just before prices might soften a little
