Just bulit a new computer and the cpu is idiling at 89 95 100 97 C , have i done somthing wrong?.

May seem a little obvious, but is the CPU fan spinning? How many other fans are in the system?

Did you apply thermal paste correctly, seat the heatsink properly?

As your using the std cooler, they can be a right pain in the butt to install!! :mad:

If its the standard one then it will already have paste applied, meaning that thermal paste cannot be the issue.. Unless you removed it?

I doubt the fan not spinning would let it get to those temps on idle.

Ok, i removed the stock cooler and i had a nocta heatsink with 2 nocta fans on it which was in a bottom of one of the cases he gave me.

Was a rihgt pain to install it with no instructions and no idea if it fitted a 1366 socket, the only thing was i lost my MX-2 during tidying up and had to use some cheap crap

and the backplate for the heatsink is haed against the backplate on the mobo covering the socket but nothing shorting will it be ok?.

Running prime 95 with 77, 75 74 70 max with both sides of the case on.

Changing the cooler also knocked 11 C of my gpu temps
