Sweet, I'd have gone for the white one too, mainly because it's just different. I still have an Epiphone SG in fire engine red; it was ubercool to me when I was 15!

PAH, bland bland bland - Guitars need to be more BLING - 23k Goldleaf is what you need

... however, out of the two, for me the black works better, although Cherry would be preferable to either. Just my opinion.

It's the daddy colour, at least for SG and 335 (I have a CR 335). Heritage Cherry Sunburst for the LP stds.

I really like the Gibson faded SG Special in natural, that's the best looking SG I've eveer seen. SG Special in Wine Red comes a close second, and I plain don't like the Standards.

Want to hear about a wierd coloured SG? My uncle had a green one once (then he stripped it down, repainted it red and sold it for a massive profit).

Well, at least that's what the rule used to be.

It's not mentioned in the current FAQ, so it's quite harsh if he gets punished or something.

Edit: Oh, and black incidentally. I think the white one would look good with a white pickguard though.
