Need some help (currently building)

coller clearance is good tbh, it was positioned like that because i forgot the cpu power supply cable, so took it off to accomodate and never fitted it back on. Im now going to take it to a local computer shop and get them to test it, just to be sure i haven't caused any damage.

@JonSmith, i couldn't find any speaker like component. dunno if its just me or i have misplaced it.

@Danny75: i will shimmy the ram into 2nd and 4th slot when i get home at about 8pm.

The speaker should be included with the case. It's one of the most important diagnostic tools when building a PC.

It should look something like one of these:

My latest build didn't come with a pc speaker (NZXT H440). I ended up pulling another computer up close alongside and connecting the speaker from that.

You won't need a shop mate, just get the cpu block on, move the RAM over to 2 and 4, although that wouldn't cause the problem I don't think it would just mean it wouldn't run in dual channel mode. Try to boot with the motherboards DVI output, and if all is good, put the card in the top slot, and try with the gpu. Out of curiosity, what id the led post code reading ? try to make a note of the sequence, from pressing the power button until it stops.

I wouldn't worry mate, most cases don't come with a speaker now. One tip though, I now us blokes don't like to read a manual but it might help mate.

I wouldn't take it to a shop tbh. Computer repair shops charge a ridiculous amount of money to do the simplest of things.

As suggested above. Go through the steps methodically, and you should be fine.

I installed the motherboard according to the manual, the ram i didn't know about and i will get the sequence. Just need to figure out where to plug all the H100i's stuff into the motherboard

GOOD NEWS!!! so good i cracked open a packet of smarties, so i done what every1 said. If turned on all fine and i got the following message on the screen:
yQbOYMv.jpg

also the little display on the motherboard was showing a D7 error i assume. So please lend me your knowledge

Id say if you're having problems, set it up with the onboard gpu first, then once all is hunky dory then test out your 970

please tell me there was thermal paste on the cpu block before you mounted the cooler?

Confirm the above.

And also you need to check that (1) the pump is running and that (2) the radiator fans are running. ;)

Your BIOS will have a "Hardware Monitor" section on the right, where you can check that. There should be speeds displayed for CPU_1 and CPU_2 (or similar). Tell us the speeds please. :)
