Ok, I know the first thing your going to say is download and run Norton Removal Tool.. but this is driving me nuts.

I firstly removed NAV from the remove programs in control panel.

Then tried running the Removal tool which came back and said that I needed to remove the product from windows before running, which i had already done (as above).

So i then ran Cclean to clear anything that may have been lurking around.

Still didn't work.

Then ran regcleaner to remove all known entries and libraies etc.. which it managed to clear some bits. I was then able to run the Removal Tool which completed normally.

Then i go to install AVG.. which can't run as it says that NAV i still running

Any idea on this?

thanks

Did you restart PC between cleaning the reg and trying AVG?

You could search the registry manually for every Norton/Symantec entry and delete them.

Mm I could do .. although I was hoping to avoid this.. :(

Have you checked to see if any of NAV's process's are still running on the off chance?

Yes, I stop the services but can't delete them for some reason. Grrr.. I hate Norton!!!

I remember someone handing me a laptop that didn't work because they had installed McAfee after their Norton license expired.

If my vague memory of it is right, I had to configure things to not load anything to do with Symantec/Norton on boot (msconfig and services.msc), reboot and then start uninstalling Norton.

You could try reinstalling NAV and then uninstall it. Chances are it might remove it properly this time.

Reinstall windows-delete old install defo. I could never get rid of it properly. Even their special removal software didnt do it. Use nod 32 its nice and dont take over you PC
