If the PSU is his actual problem i will personally apologise to you, it the principal of the forums and their purpose. No doubt a high end psu is the way to go, no arguements there, but the post hasn't even atempted a proper second or third solution to the problem.

more than likely because a new psu will cure it ! :)

I'd like to know what case he has, then that may shed some light on the PSU quality....

Also how much did the case cost, this would be a good indicator..

A PSU sold for 50 Quid is probably being manufactured at about <10 Quid, and that has to buy all components and pay the labour of the people making the darn thing, pay for shipping and storage... selling same PSU in a case, will add some marging to the deal, and will make someone a little more money. It don't mean the PSU is cheap tat!

"On the first boot the graphics card wasn't recognised and inturn just rebooted it self over and over again until i had to hold down the power button to switch it off. On the second boot windows loaded up fine and the recognised new hardware bubble popped up, but then i had the dreaded BSOD."

The fact that it loaded up fine, besides BSOD, could mean a number of possibilities. Faulty memory, On first boot up mabye faulty mb. In fact you know it could be the PSU. But yup thats one of the options i spose. The fact that i suggested a windows install, doesnt mean a £50 purchase only 1hr of someones time. Thats all. Whats the first thing u would do. Go out and byuy a new psu. Windows has been the cause of so many BSOD's when new hardware is installed, I've lost count and as it happens "I've just bought a Nvidia 7900gt 256mb gfx card". Whats ther to loose except 1hr of time. We gonna sit here for 2 anyway? ;)

I read post as they come. I dont check names, unless its a don of course, so yeah if he has the dosh then let him blow it. Its still about the principle of the forums.... to find a solution after all avenues have been pursued.

If a don is following this and i am wrong ban me now please. I am being dead serious. I would like to help as much as possible, but if people are gonna be inflexable to those not in the know, (or those that want to bugger us around, *******) then i think id rather belong to another forum. :(

FYI

"Asus - Better, in theory for 6600 and 6700's, Loadsa features and rock stable through proven overclocks.

Obviosly the DS3 is more affordable, and just as capable in performance. Prefers again in theory 6300 and 6400's.

The asus is the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi"

Where did i recommend the asus for the 6300?
