Ok so I have a problem with my PC at the moment and the problem consists of no power to the keyboard, mouse and no display on the monitor. My syste fan is spinning aswell as my CPU fan, and there are two beeps at start up.

I came to the conclusion that it was a faulty motherboard that I had, so I requested a replacement from overclockers to fix the problem...

Today I have recently been delivered my new motherboard, i have built my PC back up and the problem still persists!! Now i'm VERY unsure about what could be the problem!!??

PLEASE HELP ME :(

Okay, this means "CPU is in 1 phase power mode"

Now just got to work out what that mean!

Try disconnecting absolutely everything apart from the processor, RAM and power supply and see if it gets any further. If it doesn't try using a single stick of RAM and see what happens.

:edit:

Do you mean there's only 1 light on? or there's literally only one light?

ok i'll try that, 1 phase light on out of 4 :)

I disconnected everything apart from the cpu, ram and power supply.. When i booted it this time the CPU fan was running at 100%, which didn't happen last time

And just to clarify - You have the 24 pin connection and the 8 pin connection connected to the power supply, yeah?

Did you try only using a single stick of RAM? and if it didn't work, try the other stick?

Yeah there both connected, and just tried the RAM switching and still no luck, and still displys the 1 light..

Well unless you've been extremely unlucky as managed to get 2 faulty motherboards or 2 sticks of faulty RAM, then the only thing I can think of is the processor :( (but that's not certain yet!) Maybe try re-seating it, make sure it's definitely in properly. Do you have another power supply that you could test with it?

I'm still trying to find out the error codes / phase lights meanings but can't see it in the downloadable manual. I'll keep investigating!

Unforutnately i dont have another PSU i can test with, but i'll try re-seating the CPU now (But I think it's the CPU aswell tbh). I don't think it would be the motherboard again..

Also, When I press and hold my power button down to turn the machine off, it tries to turn back on after a couple of seconds, of being shutdown, even when I turn the main switch on the PSU off it still attempts to reboot, then it just goes off again obviously because there's no power on... :(

They should be between the motherboard and the plate in the case to mount it. So the screws to attach the motherboard go in to those stand-offs (see pic above) and the stand-offs should go in to the case.

To install them, line up the motherboard with the case to see where they will go and put those stand-offs in first, and then the motherboard should be screwed in to the stand-off. If the rig has been on without these and the bottom of the motherboard was directly against the metal plate it's screwed in to then motherboard might have been damaged during trying to start it up unfortunately.

Unfortunately, there are none whatsoever, and it cannot have been damaged because the motherboard is brand new...

try taking the motherboard out of the case and sitting it on some cardboard or something else non-conductive and start it up. It sounds like it could be shorting!

You should have those stand-offs in the new motherboard box I think?

Ok I'll try that today sometime and post back the results :)

I have now tried running my PC out of it case on the non conductive material given to me in the mobo box, but the problem still remains..

Surely after all these tests it must be the CPU???? :(

Can I get some clarification on what the problem is still? Are you still getting the system and cpu fan spinning along with the one motherboard light but no power to the ports? Any beeps now? Does the motherboard light have a colour (green/amber/red)? Does the fan on the graphics card spin?

Does seem to either be the CPU or the PSU.

  • Yes the system and CPU fans still spin
  • There is still 1 blue cpu phase mode light on the motherbaord
  • Still no display on monitor, no power to keybaord and mouse
  • GFX card fan spins

I really do think it's the CPU that's gone, I have tested the power supply with a multi-meter and everything is fine...
