Needed: Upgrade advice for a Useless individual!

Ideally you would swap out the 2 sticks of 4Gb (sell them) and replace them with 2 x 8Gb. The reason for this is that adding 2 more additional sticks (not just one stick of 16Gb) would add more stress on the MC (memory controller) - which could in turn cause you issues with your clock.

Adding additional sticks may not have an effect - but you're clock wasn't the easiest to attain so i wouldn't put money on it not having an affect.

That all said - if you did want to add more sticks you would ideally find matching pairs or sticks that matched frequency/timings and voltage - these could be dropped if the memory was faster to make them compliment your present sticks. i.e. we would have to set up the memory manually - and not use the XMP - that would be fun!!!

This seems a bit odd? Worded wrong?

This is gibberish to me! May need some assistance in my search ;)

Actually, I think I get the first bit after re-Reading again - for now, bed time
If you're about tomorrow - i'll explain in more detail after you outline the bits that are confusing you. :)

Basically, 4 sticks making up 16gb isn't going to be as kind to your CPU clock as 2 sticks of 8Gb.

You will need DDR 3 for your motherboard.

DDR 4 is for newer boards/sockets/CPUs - and has a different pin layout to that of DDR 3. It has higher frequencies (starts at 2133MHZ and upto 4266+MHz+), reduced latency and can run at lower voltages - a win win.

But, you need DDR 3 for your ASUS P8Z77-V LX.
