Net migration is down

I always wanted to move to Australia but wifey is a home bird.

My relationship with my family is "different". It's not a close knit family so moving across the globe wouldn't really bother me. We can go months without speaking anyway.

I have a skilled trade so getting a job is no problem. Wifey falling ill recently is most definitely a problem now though.

I'd like to live somewhere warmer
 
If I didn't have a wife and children who don't want to leave then I would have done already. Not because I dislike the UK.its a great place. But just because life is more than just one country.
 
When the going gets "tough", obviously a certain demographic of people would rather do a disappearing act. Well, I hope the door doesn't hit them too hard on the way out. Personally, I would attach a post-it note to the rear of the proverbial door saying: "and don't come back".

Also the drop in the value of the pound and nearly 1:1 parity with the euro will be the primary factor stopping people coming

If they were sending any money back to families in Europe then they used to earn significantly more here 14 months ago.

"Given unemployment is currently at its lowest level ever (4.5%), without the three million EU citizens living here the UK would have an acute labour shortage.

Friend from uni, dual nationality With much family in the uk married a south american!
they lived in australia for 8 years or so!
Madly decided to bring his family back to the uk (to be near said family) and have reasonable flight times to south america for visiting the missus family!
they are told All is sorted, kids him and her back in the uk!
she heads for 1 week to south america visiting family on return told cant return under original visa but can stay for a while but is not eligible to work here!

Luckily ish employer is currently an Aus uni, unluckily for the Uk she is the mother of uk citizens and married to one, last point, her specialism is trade deals!

As long as we rapidly get numbers down though we're all good?

As Frankie Boyle said lets solve economic migration by making the currency worthless!
 
Hopefully a lot of self loathing brits will leave in droves in 2019 to be replaced with quality immigration without affecting the governments targets.
