This is driving me insane!

My main desktop is running Vista and connected to my router via cat5 and a wireless 802.11g d-link card.

My laptop is running XP Pro and connects to the network via 801.11b wireless. As it is my work laptop I log on using a domain.

I have run the wireless network setup wizard using a usb key on both pc's but I still can't see either of them from the other one. :(

What am I doing wrong?!?!

You have File and Print sharing installed on both, enabled on both and allowed on both in your firewall(s)?

What happens if you attempt to ping each PC from the other?

Can either be seen from the Domain server?

I can ping the pc's from either machine a ok.

The vista pc doesn't log on through a domain and the laptop isn't connected to my office domain while I'm at home. (I don't think it is anyway) but I do sign into the pc with a username, password and domain.

I'm afraid I don't know how to enable them on the firewalls, I only use the windows firewall.

I have some shared folders on both pc's wich sould be visible but when I go to Entire Network and drill down it doesn't show me the other pc from either machine.

I have a simlar problem.

I have a desktop pc running xp and a laptop upgraded to vista.

I can ping the desktop and see its file shares using windows explorer, but I am unable to connect to the file shares or connect to remote desktop.

But, I am able to Remote Desktop to my desk pc at work (via a vpn) and then connect the to the home desktop. I can also connect to the home pc from the laptop when it is at work.

I am sure that this is some sort of security feature that I am unable to make an exception for, as per the documentation i have set the (wpa2) wireless network as private but still nothing.

Anyone know any more about this?
