Never ending cars being hit….

I’m going to look into dash cams front n back in the new year.

I barely do any miles, tbh maybe 8000 a year

They are worth it. I've been in the middle of multi car rear ends twice in the last 6 years. On both occasions I stopped but the vehicle behind pushed me into the car in front. Without the dash cam proving I stopped I could have had a claim against my insurance.

It gets weirder....

The guy who hit me last month has put in a claim that I reversed into him on the M42! :O

Luckily my Brother videoed our conversation when we got out of our cars and he says "there's no damage, I barely hit you" & "take £100 and forget it" :D

Hopefully there's a insurance fraud claim coming his way soon, I've just sent the video to his insurers

That is such a common thing to happen, not just now, but going on years.

People get their friends and family in their ears telling them they can make some money out of it or get this or that. Or old captain hindsight kicks in and tells them the same.

Glad you're brother had the sense to film it, because you'd probably be fighting a losing battle If you didn't report it to your insurance company.

It's always a lose, lose battle with insurance.

Yeah, the lady on the phone was saying if there's no firm evidence then it'd go 50:50.

It's madness thoug, who would reverse on the M42 or roll back? My Alphard is auto, it doesn't roll back! :D

Just looking at Dashcams now! How well do Rear cameras work with tinted windows?

if you get one fitted by someone make sure its a more professional installer rather than Halfords would be my advice and ask when you phone up about your tinted windows as it can be very hard to pick up number plates, but still provides evidence

I was hit by a cab on a Boris Bike a couple of years ago, and the driver seemed rather amicable at the time. £750 damage according to him. I put him in touch with Santander Cycles who took care of it. A few months later a letter arrives that he wants to sue me for the damage. I put his lawyers in touch with Santander Cycles who I suspect chucked it straight at their legal team who just puffed their chests and said COME AT ME BRO and that was the end of that. Never heard a thing again.

Definitely influenced by others later on I reckon. "You could've taken him to the cleaners Dave, made a mint out of him!"

Just spoke to my insurance, they're closing the case. Nothing to answer for. :)

The guy is a dingler! Was so concerned about me trying to scam him through insurance, so he went and did it himself! Wonder whether he's in trouble with his insurers now

Hopefully he is, I find it incredibly scummy that someone can hit you and then try and claim as if it is your fault.
