Never leave your kids near your lappy

The only thing my little 'un has done is wedge a jam sandwich in the VCR.

Still tasted OK once I pried it out, so on the whole it was OK ! VCR was ****** though.

Wasn't mine, was the wife's. I told her that the fuse blew and zapped the VCR electronics. She bought a new one.

I had to dismantle my Sky plus box recently because my son had decided it was a money box and magnetic alphabet letter storage box. I removed about 50 pence in change and a bunch of magnetic letters which had been jammed in the Sky card slots. Bloody kids!

Reminds me of years back when my at the time young brother put the VCR remote in the slot for tapes... my parents were looking for the remote for days!!

I set up a login for my daughter so that she can practice her "words" in notepad.

LOL Damn Virii you kinda remind me of my bro in Canada, hes set up a workstation with a nice 17" monitor in her bedroom with a wireless connection. So she can visit her websites and play her music, when i was there it was mariah carey all day long and she loved showing it off to her friends when they came over for a sleepover. Mind you shes 6 yrs old though and quite advanced for her age. She was always playing on my bros laptop, so he decided to buy her a pc and set up her own login etc etc and its all tied into his network in his house. Everytime i go over or speak to her on the phone, she tells me about her pc and what she can do with it:p

I work as tech support/repair for yes the purple shirt brigade and had a customer who's young daughter had jumped up and down on his laptop to the point the screen was smashed and hanging off; luckily the guy had insurance and as his daughter was very young ie couldn't understand the consequences of her actions I authorised repair for free.

Before we could collect the laptop for repair the guy rang back several hours later to report his daughter had got the laptop again and this time given it a bath  at this point it was advised to the customer that he would now have to pay for the repairs.

We cant authorise the repair though thats Pcservices call isnt it? Accidental damage isnt even covered anymore on PCP anyhow, I think sometimes we get away with it though!

You gotta be careful as long as its reported on the 2nd year and PC performance will cover it then sometimes u can get away with it, 1st year warranty though they certainly wouldnt fix the keys even not without a charge.

Now adays cant be bothered I just tell them we dont fix laptops or Pcs here in the Clinic, give them the manufacturer/3000 number and tell them to sod off !

Your in store or service call ?

Hehehe shes only 3 and 1/2 so she is always supervised when on the laptop but she can type "mummy" "daddy" "puppy" and words like that from memory.

Her entertainment is via one of my old enhanced xboxes so it has her films and games on and she can choose what she wants to play or watch from a very safe collection of items. Right now she is playing Shrek 2 which is fine as I can help her on a couple of trickier parts. We are absolutely stuck on Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Wererabbit though. Haven't got a clue how to so some of it.

Another vote for IBM's here. My son has had complete and free access to my old ThinkPad for over 2 years now. It's about the only thing he has that HASN'T been broken in one way or another.

And I'm not talking just about electronics, either.......

The insurance on printers doesnt cover accidental damage, so gl with that.

Ofcourse moan enough and you'll probably get your way.

Doesn't it? gah, that's the only reason we bought the policy, bum!

Oh it gets better, she woke up from her snooze on the sofa last night, rolled over and kicked my lappy of the coffee table :(

I now gets as far as the POST screen before turning off (on battery), and the charger doesn' seem to do anything (no lights). Oh goody.

Oops.

I've lost count of the number of cds/dvds I've pulled out the video. And after having the drawer of my one week old DVD rewriter pulled right out, the PC is now up on the desk, out of reach of 2yo hands.

Thought about getting one of them toughened laptops? :D
