Never Mind The Buzzcocks

Rhod Gilbert was amazing this week, very on the ball and witty. He presents really well. Far better than last week, last weeks was so bad I can't even remember who was presenting it :p

Satsuma had me in hysterics. Thought the host was a little dull tonight, bassist from a band? I like Blur but if you'd asked me who the bassist was I couldn't have told you :p

i just had to turn that off in utter disgust after 5 minutes. going off on a tangent about babybel cheese? if that's what noel fielding is all about then **** it. i give up. it's just not funny.

Well, it was another entertaining show, and Alex came across as a decent chap who was happy to be there. No snide remarks, no digs at over-preened wannabes or middle-aged funnymen... and maybe that's why it wasn't a shining example of classic NMTB.

Noel Fielding is beginning to get on my nerves now, though. This episode was the most blatant example of his decidedly unappealing "you've just said something funny, but I'm convinced I can top that with something that appears zany and random but is in actual fact drawn from a shortlist of things that I know will make me seem interestingly weird, because ultimately it's all about me" trait.

Admittedly, that's a step better than Bill "You can't go wrong with a woodland creature smoking a pipe in exaggerated fashion" Bailey, but not much. And he seems to care little for the music scene, surprisingly.

I wish they'd vary the rounds, too. The Identity Parade round takes up far too much time, with the same comedy devices wheeled out. "Or is it number five... [insert kiddy fiddler insinuation here]". "Number 3 looks like an extra from [insert TV programme here]". "Number 2 looks like he wants to kill me". Ho, ho and indeed ho.

But yeah, I'll be tuning in next week, unless I re-read my post enough times.

Going to disagree.

What has happened to the Buzzcocks? I'm sure it was once much more funnier.

I loved it for many years but recently (even during Simon Amstell hosting the show) I feel it has just become tiresome.

Phill Jupitus has this rare ability for a comedian to become more and more unfunny over a period of time, what is happening to him? So boring and un-witty Phill!

The blame for me going off the show is not just down to Jupitus but the concept of the show has reached end of life. The guests are about the only thing which can capture some interest, but sadly buzzcocks often has brain dead boring people on the panel.

I think it is time to call it a day BBC, sorry to say.

Well, it's inevitable after years of routine that people settle in and switch to autopilot.

Be grateful he's not doing Chewbacca impressions any more.

I think you could be right for the curtains to close on the show. When you cast your mind back to classic NMTB moments, they always revolve around guests getting the hump - Chris Moyles, Pete Burns, that total bell from Towers Of London - and that's not something that can really be achieved with guest hosts.

Unless...

Someone get Brian Sewell as guest host - stat! :D

Amstel was pretty good but annoying at the same time. never forget that episode with that tool from Ordinary boys, haha!

however glad Noel is on there <3.. but to replace Bill is lame!

Is it just me or does anyone else get the impression Noel is simply trying to smash every female contestants pasty? He just gives off these very subtle manners and compliments.

Just got round to watching Episode 2 with Rhod Gilbert, I thought it was great :)
Much better than Corden anyway!!

I only continued to watch the show if Simon was on, or if Bill was.

It hasn't been hilariously funny for ages, unfortunately. It's one I don't mind to miss anymore, and I don't think i'll even bother with it on iplayer.

Noel makes me uneasy.

I can see where he's coming from but I rarely laugh at him. Didn't watch The Mighty Boosh, so perhaps it's an unfair opinion.
