Never punch glass!

edit: i havent felt any pain yet, might sound wierd but even when i first pulled the skin back and saw my bone i still couldnt feel anything.. think i severed the nerves too.
Yes you will have done :( , i also severed the nerves, it feels numb in between my knuckes near the cut. I didnt feel any pain all the way through it all, so i suppose thats a good thing, i can still use my finger and can still feel things so dont worry. I asked the docter about it when i was in hospital and he said there is nothing they can do about it, but he said the nerves can grow back over time but theres a chance there will allways be some numbness.

you could probably get away with punching car glass since that shatters into tiny peices rather than into giant blades
Nahh if you punched toughened glass or even laminated glass it would be like punching a wall and youd end up with broken bones, trust me ive hit toughened glass with a lump hammer and it hasnt broke. But if you just tap it on the edge with a toffee hammer it'll shatter.

Yeah, glass is mad. Front window screens - in the yard years ago i launched bricks at it several times and it was just bouncing back, as mentioned dotty hammers just smash it.

Luckily, front screens are pretty clever and hold in place to with-stand a lot of force

Thanks for letting me know it hurts, it was on my to do list, suppose i can give it a miss now!

No one said it hurts, like i said i didn't feel any pain. Nerves run along the same lines as your tendons so they get severed along with everything else blocking any pain.

well this morning my finger is sort of at a |/ or if I point my fingers up in the air its like at 45 degrees. Hurts if straighten it out and bend it. :( oh well I'll live lol!

Ok dont take the **** but i did this 3 years ago whilst on holiday in spain..I know it was stupid and i dont normally get wound up but this time i did and i punched the harded glass with the matal in it ( looks line loads of squares)..

Anyway ended up in intensive care with a cut artery and 4 cut tendons..Had to have an emergency operation as i nearly bleed to death!!!!...Its amazing because now ive got about 80% of the movement in my hand back but no feeling from about half way down my arm on the side all the way down to my thumb!!!...

It will get better mate just dont expect a miracle overnight cus your end up disappointed.... :)

Severed the tendons on index and middle finger on my right hand back when I was 18. Still do not have 100% movement and it aches when rain is coming. As soon as the stitches come out, try squeezing a sponge in a basin of warm water, then work up to more resistive items but take it slow.

Anyway, just a tip, punch anything apart from glass, because the glass will win :(
I can think of a few others that you can add to your list so you don't have to find out the hard way:

1. Brick walls
2. Somebody stronger than you
3. Prickly plants, e.g. Cactus
4. A police officer
5. Certain types of snakes, lizards, felines, insects etc.

Hope it helps! :D:D

Done similar myself:

Go around to a mates house to get him to come out, I ring the (utterly pants) doorbell, and as usual I don't get an answer. So I knock on the door, well I say door, the majority of the reachable knockable door is small glass panes. Knock, Knock, Smash, OUCH!!!!

Split right down from my wrist, round the bulgy bit of my palm, and up my thumb! Doctors at A&E said that I was lucky to still have use of my thumb! And now, nearly 1.5 years later, the scar still tingles lots if I touch it in the right place, damn severed nerve endings :(

Never going to be doing that again.

I put my hand through some glass once too. I lived in a block of flats and we had doors with glass in a middle between the flats and the lifts. Well being 11 and full of energy I was just running down the corridor to the lifts and as I approached the door I just put my hand forward on the glass bit to open it. What I didn't know is that someone closed the door with the hinge thing on the top so my hand just went through the glass. Didn't cut any tendons but cut the bit under the palm where veins are so to this day when people see that scar they think I'm so suicidal emo.

I have a party trick, I can throw a punch and stop it short of anything I throw it at. Well I usually stop it 2cm away.

On holiday last year I had had two pints and misjudged it..an empty litre glass just exploded. Somehow I didn't cut myself, not even a little scratch.

Punching things because you are angry isn't the way forward, been there done that. Although bottling it up isn't the way forward either really.

Hope it all heals up.

That's because you still kinda stopped the punch (despite midjudging it). Most of the damage is done when your hand still goes into the glass and it starts to graze. Same if someone tries to break a pint glass over your head, there's no damage done as it breaks over your head but then as it breaks the bit that's left in the hand starts to graze and that's where most damage comes from (I used to work in a nightclub in case you're wondering why I know this).

Yeh, i found out the hard way :(

sliced my index finger down to the bone and sliced the tendon too. 1 trip to Deriford, Plymouth and 7 hours later i have 2 stitches in the tendon and 6 on the outside :( punched through a window in a door, not the brightest of things i've done.

Wrong technique.

You dont punch through glass, you hit it.

I've done it a couple of times, once when the missus locked her self out the house and i hit the glass on the door reached through and unlocked it.
The second time when i had lost the garage key and couldnt get my motorbike out.

You have to get the range first by resting your fist against the glass, then hitting just a little further than that.

When i was 3 or 4, I near enough cut my finger off  (a mirror fell off wall when i was pulling it - my dad was meant to be looking after me  :p ) !! Its fine now! sometimes gets a little pain in it, but I think thats excessive use of the PC lol.
It was almost hanging off though, and like i say, i have full movement and its fine.
Not sure exactially what I done, i got told lol.

You just end up with a sore fist.

As i tried that when my mate locked his keys in his honda civic.

oh, this is gonna be a long 9 days..

so hard to brush my teeth and wash with my right hand..

typing isnt very easy either!! oh well..

im getting the stitches out on tuesday, so i guessing it should have healed up by then?
