Never to early to start gaming...

And now you are comparing someone shooting a person in real life, with someone playing Battlefield 2?

GD is on form today.

you know it's different when you are a kid unable to understand what they see is not real.

if he was like 6+ then he's probably old enough but at 2 years old pretty much what you can see is real.

even some adults have a hard time grasping the concept that tv characters are just characters and the actor is not really like that....

I work with young kid's 2 - 5 I have noticed some have spoken about playing far worse games like gta5 , some watch show's like family guy that are cartoon but for adult's in my work setting none of them are violent or mimic the actions that are in the show's/games

I am not saying it's right for them to see/play those type of games/show's but its also down to a parent to explain to a child those thing's are wrong
my son has started kickboxing he knows never to run around school kicking people because we explained to him the right & wrong of it

And will teach the kid to karate chop trees and smash things up with rudimentary tools? :p

I'm not disputing that he can't understand what is real or not. I'm saying that what he probably thinks is "when I move the mouse, the person moves. When I click the button, it makes a big noise. And sometimes people fall over when I click the mouse on them."

Not: "I have to aim for the head to get a one hit kill when using a certain type of sniper rifle. I need to up my k/d. I'm now going to spawn camp these n00bs and crush their spirits."

Give it a year with input from the OP and thats exactly what he will think lol

there comes a point when you stop thinking about your actions in the real world and what is happening on screen being related

you become the guy you are controlling and get fully immersed.

children imitate what they see, seeing death and destruction will surely have some kind of impact.

he will stab the op in real life to steal his dogtag and expect him to respawn

I'd dread to think what you think of this then...

Those kids aren't 2 years old

[Edit] There's a good chance those kids didn't know what they were being filmed for either. That level of gore isn't really suitable at their age either

While I have some (minor) reservations about the game of choice, it'd be awesome to be able to set a small child farming in boring segments of games - MMOs with chat turned off for example!

Going to be hard to go back to wooden blocks after this.
Gaming kills imaginative play.

This. My two boys (8 & 6) used to play lovely until we got lazy and let them use the 360. I used to think, 'Aww. Look at them. They can game!' Now I wish I could turn back the clock.

My name is BadMojo and I'm a bad parent. :( (But then, in this respect, so are the vast majority of parents I know.)
