*NEW* 2015 Dell Inspiron 15 - 7559, i7 6700HQ/GTX960M owners thread

Dunno, mine's been in and out of my rucksack every day this month and is still looking mint. I notice after the girlfriend has used it there is usually lots of finger/hand prints on it, thankfully narrowed that down to Nivia hand cream and not her being a dirty skank :p Quick wipe with a soft cloth and it's fine.

It's a "budget" mid/high end laptop, there are better machines at this spec, but you pay for that. Also, some of those Asus/MSI laptops with the 960M are fairly well fugly... IMO

Left it as storage with the Windows 10 install in place in case it needs to go back. Using a Samsung Evo 850 240GB in the m2 slot. OcUK have them but the price is naff imo. 120GB just isn't enough for my needs but the lower capacity version of that drive is pretty solid.

To be honest the machine is great at stock. 8GB is fine for most people and the HDD has 8GB of SSD cache

I've always thought of Killer networking products as snake oil... Is it better than any other branded AC adapter? Mine came with an Intel AC 3165 wifi card, no complaints after updating to the latest driver from Intel, won't be swapping it out personally

The wifi on mine was flaky out of the box. Latest driver from Intel and it's been rock solid, even in the bedroom where my tablet/phone really struggle. Wouldn't put anyone down for buying a replacement adaptor but can't see why you'd need to

It's replacing an Acer Aspire 5920G that's given me very, very good service over the years.

I know this model, you will be blown away by the performance of the Dell, even more so with an SSD should you install one ;)

Plowing through Tomb Raider (2013) in preparation for RotTE being £10 somewhere or other, handles it superbly, more than I expected from the 960m

Very decent, run mine for ~6 hours browsing and minor productivity (Word/Excel/Outlook), screen brightness ~25%.

Anything 3D or video will drain the battery far faster though. Could probably scrape a bit more time using low power mode, I just leave it on default

My mate got the 4k touch version (against my advice). It's a bit comical how bad support is for high resolutions in Windows. The laptop is heavier with the additional touch panel I guess and the resolution is next to useless in many common programs. Stick with 1080 for now guys!

Thanks for that!

And did you mean 'can't imagine' by any chance or do you think it would struggle with Diablo 3 and WoW?

Didn't think to search for the graphics card only for gameplay footage so i'll give that a go :)

Diablo 3 is fairly easy to run on modest hardware and WoW is more or less CPU bound, right? The 6700HQ is an awesome mobile CPU ;)

In a previous life I used to buy a lot of laptop parts from "notebookspares" (Rolta IT) on eBay. They are based out West London and usually can get what you as for, but this was a few years ago.

Those that think the screen is a tad dim, have you tried notching the brightness up in the Intel driver control panel? Obviously not going to help those with light bleed

Nice work Liam. It's fair to say that if you came from a "normal" low end TN laptop screen (especially the craptacular 1366x769 15.6" variety), you'll be impressed with even a decent BOE screen. Light bleed, however, is not on IMO
