New 911 Turbo

in all fairness with regards to the skyline, more heads would turn due to it being the ultimate gran turismo car. A lot of people would really just look at the Porsche and think, just another 911..
plus I'd have the skyline any day over the porsche** ;)

**only if the skyline was tuned to 750bhp or so...

But Skylines are Lard Arses and i find them over rated and bogans(Chavs) Over here drive them :)

Now a 700BHP Porka(Im sure you could ring that much out of it with spies budget(if not then :( ) would be fun :D

I've seen lots of 997 Turbos about already, usual Porsche 'exclusivity' ;)

They're very quick, allegedly of course, officer, but they do little for me. They're too Teutonic, there's none of the drama or flamboyance you get from the Italian equivalents.

Good luck getting one at list price too.

they are stunning but for that price i would want the supercar looks, pretty much like what noz said above. would want something italian, mmm f430

I had the looks with a 575. That wears off. Then you are left wth actual real world performance and usability. On those two counts I cannot think of any other car that comes close to the 911 Turbo, except maybe the M5.

Post #53? Valid if the two points in question are real world performance and useability.

Have you tried a F430 yet? Consider one in Grigio if your polishing arm is in a sling?

Was the 360CS considered too raw for general use? When is the F430 CS due?

I don't think the depreciation of the V8 models is quite such a killer as the V12's.

lol @ 'wibble' & 'bobbly head' :D

True, but I'd imagine that the T-25 attracts more prospective M3 buyers than 911T based on image...

Noooo I want one. There is just the matter of getting a job, saving up 100k, finding a place to keep it out the rain. Now I feel crappy :(

Must get rich.....must buy.....porsche.... 997 Turbo.
Don't worry, they'll be worth £45k in five years when there's one on every street corner :)

Thought Porsche's poor service drove you to insanity last time? Hope they have improved because its a cracking motor :)

I think it was the dealer spinning me a yarn. Different dealer this time, but you're right, I'm a little cautious.

Plenty of Turbos available tomorrow with delivery mileage. No point waiting while the dealer network muck around.

edit: The usual places, Hartley, Hudsons, Saffron etc.

Got a test drive in the morning. I'll let you know what I think
Dunno how you do it exactly but, if I were in your shoes, I'd be turning up at the dealer looking as scruffy as possible when asking for a test drive then, after they turn me down, watch their faces as I stroll casually out to the M5 in the car park :D

If I was loaded I would so do that. The snobbery of some car sales people is astounding.

HI there

I think Mr Spie will definetely end up with a 997 Turbo rather soon. Yeah the M5 is a great car, but I think he wants something even more chuckable and even quicker.
Plus I think he fears his M5 can quite no longer cut it against the Mustang. ;)

Though I've warned him, if he buys that 997 Turbo, I am gonna get a Supercharger which should do me good for approx 8.5s 0-100mph. :D
Though its just to tide me over as I've gotta wait until 2008 for the Dodge Challenger. :)

Seriously Mark get the Porsche I know how you loved your Porsche 996 C4 and that was short on nearly 200BHP compared to this new model and turbo's really are a rush. Put it this way the Mustang is quicker than the 3000GT, but the 3000GT feels quicker due to the turbo rush effect. So I can image that Porsche 997 will be a huge rush when those turbo's kick in on full boost. :D

Much of the Motoring Press reckons that point to point, there is no faster car in the world than the 997 Turbo.

Thats pretty damn cool.

Yep, don't think i've seen a single negative comment about it in the motoring press.

Only bad thing I've seen about it is the fuel tank is quite small for a car designed at crossing continents with ease, don't quote me on this but I seem to remember when driven properly it is something poor like 150 miles.

This sums the car up:

comparable to cars like the Lamborghi Gallardo and the Ferrari F430 but the Porsches price undercuts them significantly. Plus the car feels better engineered, will probably be more reliable and is hugely more practical. Thats the joy of 911 ownership. While you wouldnt dream of hammering an F430 up a narrow, bumpy country lane due to the fact that within half a mile youd have to stop and pick up the remains of your front spoiler, a 911 will handle this sort of thing all day.

Neil.
