The cynical view is because Google don't like adblockers, but obviously the Lite version has been around for months and unaffected.Out of curiosity, why did chrome removed Ublock Origin?
Officially I believe it's to do with Google deprecating all Manifest V2 plugins, and I guess it was easier to develop a new plugin on V3 than to update uBlock origin. Apparently people who code adblockers were having discussions with Google about how to modify V3 to better support adblockers, so if that is true then it doesn't seem so much like they're clamping down on adblockers... and apparently the Lite version also doesn't need so many permissions to achieve similar ends.
