in read that and it's what it says, same cards rebadged at a new price point! i thought these new cards were mind blowing and would wipe the floor with nvidia. that's why i asked. happy with my 7850 2gig, plays everything i need.

still not sure whether to get a 7950 or one of the r9 270/280, been waiting so far need to make a decision soon.

Not at present, but maybe in the pipeline.
Also there shall be no reference designed R270/R280 series it seems.

Will the prices of the cards still on pre-order change when they are in stock? Specifically thinking the 280X Toxic.

Im glad I didn't order the 7970 Matrix now....the 280X Toxic looks awesome
Depends on supply versus demand. If ample stock, they might drop £10, if stock or short they could go up £10-£20. Too early to tell!

Its a 250W TDP card, any decent 500W upwards will be fine.

I'm pleasantly surprised by these prices! Now all we need is for the 290X to come in at £450 for a basic version and AMD are laughing!
That would be amazing if it came in at that price.

This is what is confused me. They perform the same as the old cards because these are the old cards, some with an added sound thing. Meh.
For me its a shame its orange as I'm going for a red/black build(Maximus vi formula, 750d, corsair vengeance ram(black the ones with the fins) ).
The fact its orange and I'm waiting on the 290x or else I'd be all over it.
