New Anfield

You can see the way the corners around the kop have been left out to allow expansion past 60,000 once transport links are in place.

Looks amazing.

Glad they have kept a traditional interior while the exterior is contemporary.

Everton fans will be even more bitter on seeing this after their own plans to build a new stadium out of Tesco carrier bags were revealed recently. :)

looks nice, very futuristic from the outside. i don't do it, so don't have anything to back this up but maybe some of you guys will know 3d design and will be able to clarify, but does the 3d design work look a bit shoddy? that's not a comment on the quality of the designs of the stadium or anything just the 3d work they've used to depict it here... is that cutting edge?

I love it, the kop looks incredibly steep. Need some birds-eye views though to give an impression of what the equivilent of the anfield road end will look like, ive heard its two tier.

I was thinking the exact same thing, the angles just look wrong to me. It doesnt look good at all because of this.
Maybe if they release better images i will change my mind but at the moment i'm afraid i don't like it.

Well that sounds OK, do you know how long it will take to the new stadium to be built (inc the extra 20,000) assuming the plans are accepted within a few weeks/months.
According to Parry the idea is for the plans for the expansion will hopefully be in place for us to go straight to 78,000 without any delay but worst case they still have a 60,000 there if the plans aren't ready or approved in time.

And **** knows how big the Kop will be  The current Kop is 13,000(ish) and thats the biggest single tier stand in the world and the new one will be 18,000

Oh and any word about whether they are putting in the underground boxes?

might be worth seeing is you consistently sell out the 60k first.
I guess they will know what the demand is going to be like. We sell out 45k now and have a season ticket waiting list of around 55-60k (though the number who will take up the option is proberly around half that).

i'm sure they do, i would be surprised though to see any expansion work begin before 2012 though, so 3 seasons at 60k and then up to 75-78k for 2013.

Yeah, what is that all about? Very tacky.
Advertising boards by the looks of it.
Obviously they can't stick actual brands around it in a design.... so presumably the Liverpool boards will be advertising boards around the pitch.

Don't know, Rick Parry has said the aim is to get the plans for the expansion in place so that they can go straight to 78k for the opening in 2010.

He said in the interview (video at the bottom) that they hope to have a higher capacity when the stadium opens.

As for the stadium, I like it :)

Yea thats what i meant :) They will be putting in the expanded plans shortly after building work starts, hoping that they get the permission to go to 78,000 before the building work is finished and then be able to increase the capacity by the time of the opening.

why carnt anfield been modified? old trafford had another couple of thousand stacked on in the corner i believe, surly major re-development of the stands could work in everyones favour.. keep the history.. keep the stadium, but increase the attendances..?

I think the same is happening to St.James being bumped from 52,000 to 60,000. Just fighting with planing atm
