AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

i haven't had a good laugh in ages. cheers :D

hehe no problem people like you are what makes this van so much fun to own...

I understand this sounds like madness but look at the figures and power to weight and it all adds up.

ill never buy a petrol car again i just never thort it was possible to get power like this and 50mpg.

This is a tuning box nuTs, the vxr range can be tuned as well- just like this.

Not sure what your point is?

So you are saying they couldnt have just put the same tuning box on the engine in a Astra and voila a M3 beater?

What? You are saying they COULDN'T have put the lump from this van with this tuning box and saved a fortune. Im getting confused now :)

Thing you have to remember is the engines are desined to be run over 20k services and maybee 150k-200k miles vauxhall could send this deisel out the factory with 200bhp no problem but then you would have to do 8k services and prolly replace the engine after 100k miles and they have to run in warmer climits then the uk ect ect.
its all about the long game as far as vauxhall ect see it.

altho its the saab 93 engine made by fiat but i wont even go there lol

Some of its not as daft as it sounds

This is the Astravan sportiv

As said, its just an astra with the rear bench and stuff taken out. And the 150bhp CDTI engine from vauxhall will give 185 bhp with a remap all day long.

given the owners posting style and his dubious race claims whether he actually owns or has raced imprezas in one is another matter however.

so basically youve turned your van into this http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/203619/vauxhall_astra.html

but im sorry scoobys m3s and a lot of other cars would still edge it even more so when it goes into 3 digits ;)

i agree with everything you have just said.
its very close to scooby speeds im talking old 220bhp models not modern 300bhp STis here.

its just a little faster then the old type r and clio 182. that not to shabby for a van thats all i was saying lol omg.......................

people tend not to take you serious when you come all over boy racer "but i was racing scoobys with my van innit" style.

Theres also the problem that the 1.9 CDTI 150bhp astra struggles to break 0-60 in 8.3s

An extra 50bhp isnt going to reduce its 0-60 time by 3 seconds, which is how much its going to need to come down by to start beating 330i

Thats kind of what i was getting at but i didnt explain it that well.

Plus yes i think i know what a remap is, do you get them off AA autoroute:D

200bhp (from the addition of a box???) in a big old heavy van, and you kept level with cars lighter and more power... sniff sniff do you smell what I smell?

Someone drove with us on one of the Type-R meets in one of these and was nibbling at the heels of a 300bhp EVO III as well as keeping up with us! He had it from the dealer with 200bhp and it certainly moved. He used to have an FN2 but needed something practical for his business in the end but still wanted some fun.

I wouldn't personally go for one as I don't need a Van but it sure held its own and looked the part too.

I'd imagine that whatever goods the van is carrying will not be "goods" any more after thrashing around racing other cars...
