NEW ATI 4890 RADEON GRAPHICS CARDS READY TO SHIP AT OcUK

Here's a review on the GTX275&4890 it has several useful benches :)

Looking at that is seems the GTX275 comes out on top only just though, the difference between the 275 and 4890 is neglible a few frames on average.

I think if the 4890 was overclocked to say 1GHZ, then it should be near the performance of the 285, mind you the 275 clocks pretty well, past 285 stock.

The difference between the 275 and 285 is very minimal aswell, i'd image it's almost identical to the 280 in terms of speed.

Oh great, my 4870 was delivered today. I swear this happens every time i buy a graphics card. Should i be annoyed or is the bang for buck on the sapphire 4870 1gb worth it over this new card?

Pretty good summary. To be fair I reckon overclocked to 1ghz the 4890 out performs the highest overclock 275 and the 4890 is £30 cheaper so unless you hate ATI, then at the moment on price the 4980 has the edge. Of course also depends whether your board is crossfire of SLI.

If they were matched in price it would be down to whichever you prefer or the mobo you were using if you intend in getting two cards later.

Well if u have only just got it...I am sure u can return it, get some extra cash to add to the 4890 and away you go...the question is how much did u pay for the 4870?

im going to go for the 275 :D

Why? Every bench I've seen so far shows that the ATI card (once again) is better bang for buck and Nvidia, and the 4890 overclocked beats the 275 hands down. The differance when not OCed is so ssmall it makes no differance anyway.

I was going to get a 4870 for my new rig but now, deffinetly a 4890, worth the extra cash. Will most likely get the Power Colour.

Anyone know if Sapphire will be bringing out a card with a better cooling system?

To be honest its only on here that the GTX 275's are more expensive....

This is a pretty good review with benches/comparisons.

Is it really worth spending £30-£40 more on a card that gives ~5 more FPS, and LESS fps when the 4890 is overclocked?

I mean it's up to you and maybe I'm just an ATI fan but it seems a bit of a bad investment.

Did you not read what i said?

I could also point you to this review

Better minium framerates across the board for the GTX 275

But to be honest they both seem on a pretty level playing field. I cant decide which one i want :p

well looking at the reviews asus 4890 is what u want comes with voltage tweaking software, up a notch in voltage and u have your self a 1000ghz/1100 monster card.
