I agree with the OP actually. The avatars here are generic filler rather than avatars and whilst I understand that the sig area allows us to personalise things, it does seem odd that we're limited to only using this area.

I like our Avatars, but more choice of gangsters would be nice! Characters from Boardwalk Empire would be nice.

Aside from that the avatars seem fine as they are. They are neat, clean and uniform - if you don't like them then you're free to turn them off and it's worth remembering that your signature is the area you've got to personalise if you feel the need although I'd suggest that the content of your posts ought to be enough to display some of your personality.

The avatars and the sig rules are what keep this forum ten times more readable than most.
