New Benchmark "Lightsmark"

its very cpu based... isn't a good benchmark..

I don't think it's particularly CPU based, considering someone with a 2900xt and 3.6ghz quad core scored less than a quarter of what an 8800GT scores with a slower CPU.

It just doesn't run well on ATi for some reason, possibly drivers.

i will do, soon as i reinstall XP, vista is annoying the hell out of me, just not sure if i want to go 64 bit or 32 bit xp :/

XP32, XP64 aint as supported as Vista64 I dont think, try dual booting, Vista is not that bad once you clear all the crap out :).

it's not so much the crap, the last couple of days my hard drive has been on some kind of spaz attack, not sure wether its the vista search indexer or what but its constantly being pounded and i cant track down the processes causing it

i scored higher with a dual core with a 2900 than the quad core with a 2900.

it must be driver issue..

Disable, Windows Search (Indexing), System Restore and clear the Hybernation file using Disk Cleanup.

So its really CPU dependent yeh? Because i thought my 8800GTS 320 was still comparable to an 8800GT?

but im getting 280FPS compared to some 400s here

XP32 E6550(stock 2.3Ghz) 8800GTS (320mb stock) 2Gb rig

Sommits wayyyyy wrong with this. On Vista 64, I get 148fps at 1280x1024 and 195fps at 1680x1050. I aint getting near the 400fps I should get with ease.

Basically it appears that:

Vista = bad
64 bit = bad
ATi = bad
AMD = bad
low clock speed = bad

Nvidia = good
32 Bit XP = good
overclocked intel CPU = good
