New bike upgrade

Getting the team.

Should be getting £500 worth of vouchers for £390 in next couple of days and using Corporate vouchers for the rest. was also going to use British cycling membership but think I cant do that now.

Not really into clip ons prefer flats so i have freedom of my feet as breaks haha.

Cant belive only paid £600 will be even less when I sell the HooDoo.

Where is the best place to sell a bike?

You can get away with normal shoes for shorter rides but if you start to do anything >50km you're really going to want to go clipless, or at the very least get cycling specific shoes designed for flat pedals. Don't make the mistake i did and use running shoes or something similar on an 80km ride, my feet were so numb and i had to keep stopping and walking around to get rid of the pins and needles.

Haven't sold a bike before, but possibly pinkbike or gumtree depending on what the market is like around where you are and how long you're willing to wait.

I've been using a pair of addidas zx750 for riding in

Did a few 60+ mile rides last summer no problems at all.

apparently they are skater shoes so they have a really solid bottom that barely flexes which is really nice for pedalling and they don't hurt my feet at all.

facebook is likely a good place for selling bikes. there's probably a cycling pages for your area that people use to organise rides, list stolen bikes on etc similar to this
https://www.facebook.com/groups/necycling/?pnref=lhc

there's also a cycling forum where you can sell bikes but I can't remember what it's called

Gumtree is probably decent for selling bikes too

Wow just riding it back home can really feel the difference
lol in a good way? I still remember the first time I rode my cx bike after coming from a hybrid :D
everything about it felt so much better, just needed to build some confidence at changing hand positions which didn't take more than a couple of short rides

Yea I got probably the crappest pedals you can buy on a bike that cost £1k lol

the bearings in them are pretty much shot though I should really buy some new pedals.

I'll just get flat pedals again, the thought of being clipped in doesn't appeal to me at all.

seriously though if you want to ride in trainers you need to make sure they are ones where the bottom doesn't flex much at all.
previously I had been riding in some old nike trainers that I still haven't binned for some reason lol

the bottom of them just flex to much to pedal with the proper part of your foot.
the base of the shoe is so soft the pedals actually imprinted in to them over time.

you don't want to be riding in some weak trainers like those just asking for foot/leg problems.

those addidas have done at least a few hundred miles of cycling and no signs they have been used on a bike

yeah and that is why you use proper cycling shoes not trainers? if you're doing 60+ miles that means that you'll be hardly getting your foot of the pedal so why not be clipped in, in a comfy well aired shoe? just doesn't make sense..

as soon as it gets wet your foot will be all over the place too..!

I know it's better.

I'd probably get on them with fine. maybe it's just a comfort zone thing and I don't like to leave it.

most of my rides are only around 19 miles anyway though and I'll use stop in a pub halfway

I'm not even sure I'll bother with any big rides this year

In the same way people worry about drop handlebars, then realise they're awesome. In the same way people worry about CX or road bikes when coming from a hybrid and then realise it's awesome..... You'll buy clip in shoes and pedals, and realise they're awesome.

I use SPD-SL's on the road bike and they're great. On the mountain bike I use SPD's, and even when on incredibly tough terrain where I have to put my feet down quite often, they've never caused me any bother. I can unclip from mountain bike pedals and get my foot down at the same speed someone is unclipped can. And I just have to put my foot back on the pedal to automatically clip in, I don't need to look.

Looks like you're pedalling with the wrong part of your foot too. You should be aiming to use the ball of your foot, not the arch (which might suggest your seat is too low too if you're comfortably flat footing the pedalling).

I did say

Was simply pointing out most trainers aren't solid enough to cycle in properly

Because they're not made to be cycled in? :) get proper shoes and stop destroying your feet.. ! I had mini clips on for a while which at least kept my foot in place..

I went to SPD pedals this year and I'm a complete convert. I was going to avoid putting them on my MTB as I ride that when out with my wife and it feels like I'm stopping every 100 yards but I think even that will be treated to a set of pedals with flats on one side and SPD on the other.

One of my favourite things about them is that you don't need to think about your foot position at all (initial cleat setup aside) just clip in and forget about it until you unclip.
