My current planned build is:

1. Asus GTX670 NVIDIA DirectCU II Overclocked Graphics Card - 2GB
2. Intel CPU i5 4670K Socket 1150 Quad Core Haswell CPU With Heat Sink Fan
3. Asus Z87-K Intel Z87 Socket 1150 Motherboard
4. Fractal R4
5. Silver Arrow Cooler

- Can someone please spec me some suitable RAM, an SSD and a PSU?
- Is the Asus GTX670 the best GTX 670 card/quietest?
- Is the mobo alright?

I don't really care for super blinding speeds on the SSD, moreso reasonable space and fast boot/opening times.
Hoping to pull the trigger tonight at last! thank you everyone!

bump please! sorry to be impatient, trying to pull trigger ASAP before i think again!

Will I get sound AND video through HDMI on this rig? Really want to simply hook this up to my TV!

I'd get the MSI 7970 TF3 over the 670 myself, but the card's good and it's quiet.

Asus boards are always a good standard. The Gigabyte ones are more popular here partly because of the UK RMA (Asus has poor customer support).

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **NEW REVISION** with FREE GAMES £189.95
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £86.99
1 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G186C9K) £65.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 500w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020059-UK) £49.99
Total : £405.82 (includes shipping : £10.75).

Sadly the 7970 is out of the question at its current price point of £250+. GTX 670 runs at £200. I've read countless reviews and discussions and the GTX 670 at the same price seems far better than the 7950 TF3.. which is also on pre-order... !! Need to build this baby by Wednesday!

I'll go for the gigabyte board. Can you please link me the board? does it allow HDMI audio?

Stulid, thank you for your help. Only problem is I'm on a very tight budget. I'm looking for my PSU + RAM to be priced at around 60 a piece preferably, with the SSD as low price as it possible also (can it be any cheaper than 86 for 120GB or am I asking for too much?).

Sorry, I meant the 7950 not 7970 - the one I put in the spec. Any reviews that say the 670 is far better than the 7950 are just wrong :)

This is a very popular board. It supports SLI/Crossfire too:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-D3H Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £131.99
Total : £139.73 (includes shipping : £6.45).

If you'll never want SLI, this is a good choice:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £109.99
Total : £118.69 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Money is an issue with the motherboard. I can't afford to spring £40 more.

Will this suffice: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 Intel Z87 Socket 1150 Motherboard and give me decent overclocking potential and HDMI audio?

Hows this then.

My review of the D3HP board - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18518312&highlight=startername_stulid

That board's fine, yes. They all have HDMI audio.

Nah, the D3HP is worth the extra over the HD3, even just to get a black PCB it has to be worth it.

What does the black PCB mean?

I have no plans to crossfire as I fear by the time my card is rubbish, I'll upgrade due to the developments in VRAM in future textures.

Just the actual colour of the motherboard, the HD3 is more like a dark brown.

My PC does not have a window so I'm not arsed at all what colour the RAM or mobo is. ATM my cart is:

Define R4
Asus GTX 670 2GB
4670k
Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Red Low Profile, PC3-14900 (1866), Non-ECC, CAS 9-10-9-27, XMP, 1.5V
600W Corsair Builder Supply

Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 Intel Z87 Socket 1150 Motherboard or Asus Z87-K guys? Do I lose anything by going from the Asus to the Gigabyte?

Gigabyte and Asus boards around the same price are comparable. They're both very good motherboard makers, it's just with Gigabyte if things go wrong you're taken care of.

I've read the Gigabyte board does not use RAM above 1600?? I'm pretty confused now.

I've used RAM up to 2600Mhz on them, they work fine, at default settings the RAM will be running at 1333Mhz, but by enabling XMP profile in the memory section of the bios it will set the speed and timings correctly by reading data contained on the RAM.

okay thanks... put the RAM down to 1600Mhz...

Define R4
Asus GTX 670 2GB
4670k
Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Black Low Profile 8GB RAM 1600
600W Corsair Builder Supply
Silver Arrow CPU Cooler

... now for the 1TB drive! Dunno whether to get a baraccuda or a WD black/blue.

i dont want noise!!

Thank you. As I'm on a bit of a budget and the black RAM matches the mobo.. shall I just get the 1600? Surely the 1833 will give me a very very marginal if non-existant increase in performance?
