New Build Advice Please

Sorry to keep asking questions but i've just come across this thread:

Have the faulty sandybridge boards been replaced now or are they still being sold? the last thing i want to do is buy one and risk my computers hardware. I've also noticed a lot of competitor's sites aren't stocking them at the moment.

Any info would be great.

The issue affects just five of the SATA2.0 ports

there is less than 5% chance of data being lost on the harddrive connected to one of these ports.

you can use the SATA3.0 ports without any issue.

no hardware (cpu/gpu etc) is at risk.

you get a replacement board when you send a faulty one back.

you get the warranty period reset, with the new replacement board.

Any idea on when the replacements will be brought out? I'd rather just wait to buy one of those than deal with the hassle of sending one back and installing a new one.

New chips are being sent out some time this month.

But if you play it smart with the faulty board, you could get almost 6 years arranty, buy sending it back for RMA just before the 3 year period is over, get the new board and an extra 3 years.

Cool, think i'll wait for the new ones then. Hopefully it'll be obvious when they arrive.
