Hi Guys, I've came here for to spec every build so may as well come back now right? :) wondering if somebody can spec me up a decent gaming system for partners brother here is what I've got to work with!..

- BUDGET - £600-700 just for the tower, this is a newbie to PC Gaming :) he'll be playing all your typical games these days.. (Fortnite, PUBG, Fallout, CS:GO, battlefield etc..)

- Preferably an SSD + HD Combination which is pretty much normal spec these days...

- No keyboard, No Mouse, No Monitors and No Operating System, or anything else needed, just a case and the parts, I'll build it myself for him.

- Also as a side note it may be an option that if you look in my siggy, I could give him my Motherboard + RAM + CPU and possibly my graphics card at a discounted price since hes family and just upgrade mine to the really high end ones so this could be another option please spec me some parts and also if you spec in using the parts I've already got in my build I may consider just selling them off cheap to him!

- I may look to overclock it further down the line if it ever starts to become slow although but I can say this is something I have never done and have never overclocked at all on my previous pc's so this isn't important to me unless you guys think its something i'm missing out on not doing for extra performance..

Thanks for your help guys look forward to reading the specs!

Thanks Orb, thats great I imagine it'll run everything comfortably? normally im a sucker for using just Nvidia/Intel products the AMD and ryzens up too scratch these days? :)

tell him to check out freesync monitors at a later point, start around £170 for 144hz .

specially since Xbox One now has freesync etc

and next gen consoles will as well

Any recommendations Orb? I've got a LG OLED C7 65" myself which is brilliant for fifa and stuff, but wouldn't mind a smaller freesync screen for when playing more intenses games on the future on the console or is my OLED more than good enough?

most likely fine with current consoles, next Gen would be more fun unless TVs move to higher hz rate :D

not to clued up on consoles if they are able to run over 60fps at 1080p etc now or if its still locked down

worth seeing if your TV will support freesync ? Seem C8 does support freesync

Slight change of budget guys! Hes now got his desk and everything else, I've got £1,250 for a tower and monitor can some of you guys hook me up with a higher budget build lads?

i think its still £30 steam voucher with board and 3 free games from AMD with VEGA GPU

youd still go AMD CPU and GFX even at that budget rather than moving over to intel/nvidia? :) also screen maybe slightly too big any around the 24-27 sorta range? :)

You'd need a bigger BUDGET for intel and Nvidia and then a £600 G-Sync screen :)

1440p 31.5" is perfect , text is nice and readable within games and no need for scaling :)
You can find £350 27" 1440p 144hz screen though !!!!! Have a look online , TN panel but will be fast and smooth gameplay
Or drop to Vega 56 and 1080p 144hz IPS to save a little cash too

G-Sync really necessary on this guys build hah?

I use to use an ultrasharp 1440p for mine never really noticed the different with the hz until I jumped to my now predator 165hz 1440p ips display hah, but this guys never PC game'd so isn't going to be massively aware of the different HZ but if your saying ryzens the best way to go then im inclined to believe you my friend! :)

will his pc struggle with 144hz 1440p, would he be better off with 144hz 1080p? debating getting him an IPS over the TN as when I ordered mine I ordered both the TN and IPS version and for the ms response time different I noticed aboslutely no different but the IPS looked way better! :D

I just went with VEGA and freesync as its in the budget, 1440p 75hz and freesync all for £1200... damn

depends on the games, Fornite then yes he'll still hit the high 90s+ i believe etc

also monitors last a LOT longer then the GPUS .

IPS will have the better colour, I prefer this over TN panels

Also Orb whats the difference between the SSD in the build and one of those NVME M2 970 Evo's? other than them being the same price for 250GB as the standard SSD is for 500GB they are way faster aren't they? or is it just not necessary for this guys budget?

Would fly bud ! Turn everything on high to tax the GPU, if you find out it's under 90% load then upscale to 1440p ;)

They are faster... On paper, if your pulling 2000x32mp pictures from storage to ram to CPU back to storage there is a Huge difference, companies can save a few days compiling work loads.. of gaming.. not much difference.

Unless nvme on good deal, always push bigger storage solution, specially when games now top 70GB !!!

Orb little bit of a problem? his computer seems fine playing most games, but when hes trying to play ARK its overheating, shutting itself off while like the power light and everything stays on but the display just goes black? think its just the graphics card getting too hot, also noticed the case has an extractor fan on the back but no fans inside to pull air into the case, should I order some to sit in this spot to get some cold air into the case?

and is there a reason its overheating just on this game particular?
