@PhilipOmnis , AMD version of Hyper threading is actually a lot better then Intel's. This is shown by the fact Intel's 9700k 8 core 8 thread beats the previous 8700k 6 cores and 12 threads. As a rule, more cores are better then threads , but AMD is on a steam role. Rumors of 3 threads to one core with next ryzen could be a Destroyer !!!!

Also, the Turbo card is a blower style cooling unit. Loud and hot, other brands and versions are opened fan design so more fans and cooler/quieter .

Also, push the Aorus 1440p monitor if you can and looking for IPS . Nice screen ! Couldn't go back to TN panel due to colour

I also see we've gone from £2500 2080ti and 1440p monitor to 2070super... ;( But ! You've also saved money ! And sense ! Haha

But I'm liking the 32GB, if your like @tamzzy and love Cities Skylines, well needed !!!

No apologies needed, hope everything went okay with the x-ray. Thanks for clarifying on the Turbo, and the CPU stuff. I'll look into those monitors though it's not as pressing (don't need the monitor for actual assembly). Also, we have time for me to have a crisis of finance and buy the Ti ;P

Also, Cities Skylines is banging so yes, 32GB will be a welcome addition.

@tamzzy - not sure what you did - but whatever it was it's not worth risking my boredom of being on here alone if you both get suspended (orbi's occasional sabbaticals are a given :D). For starters i'll have to deal with CP30 all by myself (i'm sure you can work out who i mean) - that's just not cricket!..

/looks around and wonders if a mod has got hold of a Thanos gauntlet

Not to derail said sitcom, but here's where I'm at.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,944.62 (includes shipping: £14.70)

And of course, 32GB Ballistix Sport blah blah.

This seems to be the best middle ground of everything suggested so far. If I'm feeling dumb I might swap out for the 2080Ti. Will it be bottlenecked in this build? Lastly, I just need to hunt down that elusive monitor. The quest continues.
 
personally i think the case and cooler is overkill...i'd have got the p350x case and the scythe mugen 5 - which will save ~£100
also you don't really need a 750w psu. 650w is sufficient - getting the rm650 would save ~£20 depending on where you source it from
though granted that £120 is chump change for your build...it's still a pretty penny, so your call.

with respect to the monitor, i'd suggest to ask ocuk when this will become available:

"Chump change" - You sure know how to make a fella feel special =P £100 could go toward the 2080Ti if I'm feeling reckless...Is 650w gonna be comfortable or just sufficient? Also I opted for that tower as I think @Plec suggested going silent. I'm happy for a little overkill in my life but if it's unnecessary then as I said, could put the funds elsewhere.

I've said this like four times, but honestly, you guys have been awesome.

Also thermal paste, anything I need to know or shall I just go for whatever?

3700x = 90w
2080ti = 330w (350w spike draw)
other components = 40w

total absolute max power draw (ie cpu+gpu+hammering ssd) = 480w
typical real world load use, probably around 400-420w

you'd want the load to be between 40-80% of the PSU's max rating as this gives the best power efficiency. 450/650 = 70%

now if you were going for a power hungry cpu, then things may be different, eg:
overclocked 9900k = 250w
2080ti + other components = 390w
max power draw then would be 640w - then a 850w psu would make sense.
 
Yep, 650W is the standard spec for your build - i specced the 750W to try and sway you away from the £150+ PSU :)

As for the case you will get our personal preferences when we consider spec/budget if not specific (and you'll notices all our builds are different) - i err towards relative silence and premium sound proof cases plus cool running achieves this (if budget allows). But your job is then to assess and adjust specs to suit your budget and needs/wants.

That Mugen 5 is the go to cooler for cheaper builds than yours - but also not out of place in a premium build either. That said - sometimes it's nice to buy what you can afford, like the look of...

the cooler (whichever you choose) should come with some already. not worth buying extra, at best a couple of degrees difference between the worst and the best...money better spent elsewhere unless you're going to build and dismantle often enough to warrant extra TIM.

Easy to say when you're not a simpleton like I ;P I think I share your opinion on the case though. I guess the problem I have is I cannot discern all that well between the varying builds.

Also are you guys having...a tiff?
