New build.... can't output to TV?

Yup, just stuck my finger in it and can confirm it's on!

Left the PC idle for 10 with the side off and it's down to 41.

Went from 54 to leveling out on 83 with the side of the case off and it away from walls.

That sounds more reasonable if it's at full load.

Looks like you have a cooling issue with your case.

One fan blowing cool air in, and one extracting hot air out, aren't a lot if you have hot running hardware.

Case doesn't have much room for any more fans.

No sure which way they are blowing though, what sort of solutions can I look at for this then?

What case do you have?

The fan on the front should be blowing cool air in and the fan on the back extracting hot air out.

You could always get more powerful fans but these would be noisier.

Not really any options for adding fans to that case.

The case only comes with the rear fan so has one been added at the front?

Make sure the front fan is blowing in and the rear fan is extracting.

Yeah, I grabbed a stock fan out of another case that I had lying around to improve airflow knowing the PC would be under a desk in the corner.

Would getting a better case (I'm looking at THIS) with the extra fans be likely to sort this issue?

It would certainly offer a lot better airflow than the case you currently have.

Depends on whether or not you want to spend £81.

I have the 922's bigger brother, the HAF-X, and it's a great case for airflow.

Something like the Antec 100 with a couple of fans added at the front may do just as good a job:

You can even add a fan to the side to cool the graphics card.

If you're seriously considering a new case perphaps start a thread in "Case Central" where I'm sure you'll get some good advice on what would be suitable.

The PC isn't for me, it's a friend. It's a £900 PC so his view is if a £80 case is gonna fix it then go for it.

He's already talking about scraping it apart anyway and getting better stuff. Getting an i7 2600k instead of his i5 2500, p67 motherboard instead of h67, this new case now, he wants a 128GB SSD as the 60GB is gonna be too small he thinks etc.... He's got a bit of money to throw away every few weeks, £200 there, £300 here etc...

Perhaps he could donate all his discarded parts to you as payment for your help :D

Ha maybe, chances are he'll ask me to eBay it or pop it in the MM here, should get 80% of retail back for it surely considering most of this stuff is less than a week old!

The right to cancel is 7 working days beginning the day after the consumer receives the goods:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2000/2334/regulation/11/made

“working days” means all days other than Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

If they were delivered on the 23rd I make 7 working days from the day after the goods were received Friday 1st April.

The goods can be opened and inspected but must be taken reasonable care of:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2000/2334/regulation/17/made

The retailer must be notified in writing that order is being cancelled within the time period:
