Hey all,
Am helping my father-in-law to be with a computer upgrade with an old bundle I had laying around.
He recently lost data on his hard drive which I am attempting to recover and am trying to think of the best option for him with a budget of about £100.
Now I don't want to sound rude, but he isn't exactly the brightest when it comes to technology ( his hard drive is a dual core, apparently) so it has to be simple and low maintance.
Ideally I would suggest a small SSD for his OS and a 2nd (or even 3rd) hard drive for storage and backup of media files (which there are a lot of) but I do not believe he can be trusted to manage a backup drive manually.
Right now my mind is thinking of a simple raid 1 setup and no SSD so there arnt any additional drives to worry about.
I know it isn't a "backup" as sorts but living many miles apart, I won't be there to help him and seems a reasonable solution.
His usage is mainly media files for his business and the usual email etc, no gaming.
Would a scheduled backup task be a better solution? I have never used one - do they slow the PC down at all?
Any other suggestions welcomed!
