New build help (and advice) <£1200

@tamzzy Thanks again!

I realised I don't have a wifi card, so changed the MB:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,362.05 (includes shipping: £15.30)

Then I noticed the Gaming 5 states it supports 3200 ddr4, not 3600 - would this be an issue?

Should I also get some thermal paste?

Always more questions... sorry :) - but almost there now.

thermal grizzly £5 and if you want to save a little, get 8 Pack 3200hz version as more mature Bios will come out that will handle 3600+ speeds. just makes your life a bit easier to start with :D

and personally would push this screen for a little more! 70Ti on a 75hz screen at 1080p.... its'll be able to push higher !

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...z-1ms-gaming-led-monitor-black-mo-024-ao.html

that or a 1440p 60hz screen

gtx 1060 6gb would be batter match for 1080p 60/75hz :)

also you've saved £20 on 70ti Gaming being on sale today and £9 saving in ram. know you've upp'd the board but the 144hz or 1440p screen is really worth it with that card!

also, worth while to make most out of the 2600

those are official specs, unofficially will be able to push higher.
budget dependent i'd get the higher speed ram if you want to tinker in the future and get the most out of your system. else yeah, then get 3200 ram.

can do, if you want - thermal grizzly cryonaut comes in highly recommended - just clean the stock paste off first

Their cooler needs a bath first haha , it's slapped on a treat

after having a look at budget monitors available, i've come to the conclusion that 1440p/60 for the £200ish price range is the sweetspot.
too many compromises going for 144hz at this pricepoint, and that 1070ti deserves to drive a good panel.

my recommendations:

@tamzzy @orbitalwalsh Thanks gentlemen :) I seem to have gone a little over budget :D however, I am going to keep it under £1400 so will stick with a 1080 monitor (can always upgrade in six months...). I think the AOC may be a better option (after reading a few reviews). So this looks likely to be mine in the near future (ordering tomorrow):

monitors are hard to sell on.
my advice, if you don't have the cash now, is to omit the hard disk. easy to add on later on.
and besides, with a 480gb ssd, that's a load of space to begin with.
better to get the monitor right the first time round.

other than that. build looks solid.

@orbitalwalsh I like the look of the original quoted case more :) but the cooler may be something to add later :D if temps get a little out of hand  (along with a hard drive..)
