New build Not working

sorry mate, first time the system wouldent boot was because of a loose wire/pin. a loose 24 pin connector to be precise. after coming on here, someone suggested taking the connections from the PSU out and re-plugging them in, thats what did it. thats what I mean everything was connected to the correct slots, like for certain.. thats why I dident understand it, little did I expect what was going to happen after 1-2 minutes of the system being on (fans spinning, cpu cooler working, being able to acess all BIOS features, just really dident expect this :/.

this is exactly what happened.
 
Right, so the very first time was because there was no 4pin connected. The second time was due to a loose 24pin connection.

When that was sorted, it powered up for a couple of minutes and went pop.

Is that the chain of events?

how tho?...everything was connected in the right slots, the first time the system wouldent power was down to a loose cable, hardly user that could cause this problem, and tbh, Im not 100% certain since I was looking at the screen, but from the loudness of the pop and the fan LED on the cpu and other fans stopped straight away.

Edit: I have checked the cable used to power the PSU and it was definitely correct, its says cpu on it and only fits in that one perfectly.

then why would the system boot up perfectly for 1-2 minute and allow me to access all of the features such as boot sequence, I could see my drives connected. plus, the CPU temp was perfect in bios @ 33c.

Edit: the cable from the psu had CPU at the side of the bit that clips in, and only fitted that CPU power slot.

yes exactly, a very loud pop indeed.
 
Probably RMA time :D

In the meantime, try clearing cmos (take the battery out and replace after 15mins or so).
Sounds silly, but it worked for me after I thought my psu died when I was buggering about with bios settings.
The 'pop' turned out to be the psu transformer relay on emergency shutdown.

I know you haven't changed anything in the bios, but it's worth a try since it ain't working anyway.

Also, check youtube for the paperclip test to see if your psu truly is dead.

In this event if the mobo and other items are screwed, would this all be covered by rma or only the psu and ur screwed with the other stuff?
 
An update on my build.

Took the computer round a friends house and connected up his OCZ PSU.

Worked absolutely fine. Posted ok and asked for a system disk (I don't yet have an OS installed).

So no user error or loser error or whatever you want to call it.

Some of these Corsair TX550M's are borked out of the box.

I did breathe a sigh of relief!!

How long does this RMA thing normally take? So frustrating not being able to use the thing. Been half tempted to get a PSU from the shops.
 
There is a good chance then that if the 24 pin ATX connector werent connected correctly then this caused a short and blew the Motherboard and maybe the PSU. I had someone work with me in the shop where I work and didnt connected the 24 pin correctly and cause it was only connected on some pins of the socket, it caused a short and blew back to the PSU and the mobo and ram got fried.

It is a easy mistake to make, especially for someone who aint got much experience in building a PC, which no offence to the OP, but if he couldnt find the 12v 4 pin connector for the CPU on the PSU then maybe the OP should have had his friend who had experience in builds help him or supervise him.

have tried resetting the cmos for about 10 mins and still nothing, dont want to try the paperclip thing tbh, just dont want to touch it until I can get in contact with Ocuk.

I hope this is the case, I shall try to get another PSU in the meantime and try to test it.
 
Just finished my new i5 build with the corsair 550w psu, booted fine and installed motherboard drivers and then when restarting it just went POP and tripped my electric >:{

sorry to hear this mate, puts us in the same boat.. whats your next step, tried another PSU?.
