New Build powers on for 1 second help plz???

Hey guys,

I just finished building my PC and checked everything was plugged in.
Once everything was done I switched the power switch on. The motherboard LED light turned on. Turned the power button on heard the CPU Cooler, both Fan coolers front and back all spin for a second and showed nothing on the screen??

Any1 know where I've gone wrong?

6870 has both 6pin power connectors in it?

Motherboard has then extra 4/8pin by the CPU socket?

Try a clearCMOS.

Yeh it has two 6pins that I connected to the 6870. Connected 4pin next to CPU. and obviously the big 24 pin. All through the PSU. I'll try to clearCMOS soon and see what happens where do I find it?

Theres either a button somewhere, or its just easier usually to switch off at the wall, pull the little battery for a minute, re-fit and power back on.

On my mobo there is an Circle size Lithium battery so I take that out for 5 second?

Graphic card was in the way so I'll leave that out and use the mobo onboard grapihcs for now. Took the CMOS battery for more than 5 secs put it back in. start PC and fans lights up for a sec and I see a tiny shock?

Yeh I see a little shock near the front panel where the POWER SW, RESET and HDD LED cables are inserted. I press the powr button and nothing happens unless I turn power switch at the back on. everything flashes for a second and same thing happens?

any solutions to what is going wrong. I've put both my 4GB RAMS in if that helps? the fans/led light move and flashes for a second.

Then double check the wiring for the case to the motherboard.

Did you only put motherboard stand-offs where there was a hole on the motherboard?

Ok I'll recheck the wiring, I have put all 8 of the screws onto the motherboard and tight it up. so there is no missing.

Ah, but are there any standoffs touching the rear of the motherboard that shouldn't?

Ill try taking the mobo out and check everything and try power it on

Update: I've got progress, I have taken my all PCI cards out. motherboard still fitted in position on case. took a RAM out. exhaust fan not connected. Took a pin out for second on the board called Clear RTC RAM and took CMOS battery out again.

Then put the parts back in carefully, maybe you hadnt seated something correctly.

Ok i place the other RAM back in, unscrewed all 8 screws and booted it up on hdmi everything loaded perfect so I think its the screws? I placed 5 screws around the board and tighten it. can I leave the other screws out? justt turned it on and all is good
