New build problems, please help!

Ok if i put the hd on sata port 5,6,7 or 8 its not even recognised!

So what else can i do now? RMA time? Or shall i rebuild my old mobo, gcard and try that?

can you get your hands on a another SATA drive just to see if it is the drive.. or can you get your hands on an IDE drives.

If the IDE device works and the other SATA doesn't, it would appear to be a borked SATA controller.. Also, can you get a SATA PCI card.. just to see if it works on that?

I have unplugged my ide cd drives and floppy and its been half an hour and no freeze.....

Sounds like the Nvidia IDE/ SATA drivers having an argument to me :eek:

Uninstall the NV IDE drivers & see if that helps. If not uninstall the SATA drivers.
The latest versions may also help this issue.

These drivers are notoriously buggy, although I've never had problems myself.
