New build ryzen 1800x vs 8700k

Ok, with the hope that you drop this subject i'll bite, Dirt Showdown is the oldest game i have with a built in benchmark, its from 2013, i think, its an old game and one of those where low threaded IPC and Mhz matter more than '6 cores'

With both the 4690K @ 4.5Ghz and the Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9Ghz my GTX 1070 was bottle-necked.

This is 1080P with all AA settings turned off.

The 4690K @ 4.5Ghz: Min 99 FPS - Avr 139 FPS

The Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9Ghz: Min 117 FPS - Avr 152 FPS

So the Ryzen 5 1600 is faster even in this very old game, by some 18% on the minimums.

In 3D productivity workloads its literally twice as fast.

With a 600Mhz clockspeed deficit too. The Ryzen 5 1600 really is an impressive CPU.

Yeah in workloads my 1800 pummels the life out of my 4.8Ghz 8 thread Xeon.

We have a different opinion on these as we come from different CPU's to begin with, 4770 vs 4690. TBH, I don't know why I bothered moving from it. I got dragged into the hype just like i did with the FX 6300.

The 2500K was miles ahead of the FX-8350.

1600 beats 4690k in one game, declares winner. It couldn't possibly be an outlier, you know given that ryzen has haswell IPC.
We've all seen that even a 2500k can keep pace with a 1600, its nothing special in games. Its productivity that it shines.

It is generally agreed that a 4690k is more or less the same as 6600k.

The differences here are too small to be considered an upgrade. In fact it loses in some.

You forgot to mention in most of the games in that video the 1600 is faster, that is faster than the 6600K, the only outlier is GTA-V, the 4690K is also not "more or less the same as the 6600K", the 6600K does in fact have and is known to have significantly higher IPC.
Here is an example of a 23% difference in frame rates, they are both clocked the same.

Other than a few games the IPC is actually about even with SkyLake, which has the same IPC has Coffeelake, the only difference is clock speed.

Its fairly apparent now how many corners Intel has cut to achieve their place at the top, and how shady they have been since getting caught out, if your willing to carry on supporting those practices then good luck on you when they backfire and some oik steals your cash from your bank, yeah you'll probably get it back but for me thats not worth the hassle for a few extra fps heh.

Im not saying AMD are saints, but the amount of tripe coming from Intel right now puts me totally off them.

Well you can carry on using the clearly slower amd cpus I needed single core perf, and doesn't have it, it's very simple really.
